Here comes the bride - and she's wearing a stunning floral wedding dress from Alice May Bridal! Here at One Fab Day, we try to share a variety of real weddings as much as possible, however, they all share a common thread – it’s something we can only really describe as a 'One Fab Day style'! Weddings with an effortless elegance, images that tell beautiful stories and inspiring couples. Today's gorgeous real wedding, is one such celebration, and is one we know will resonate with many of you for it’s laidback and gentle Summer style. Today's One Fab Day couple are Jane and Alex who tied the knot at the beautiful Killruddery House last Summer. Their wedding day was simply stunning and we can just feel the joy and laughter coming through these gorgeous romance-filled photos by The Portrait Room. We adore this wedding and we think you will too!
You may recognise our beautiful bride Jane McGrath who is an IFTA Award nominated Irish actress known for playing Garda Sharon Cleere in the Irish drama series Red Rock.
The transport on the day was an adorable vintage VW van called Dorothy from Volks Weddings!
We asked the lovely couple how they met and they tell us it was back in 2010 through Jane's older brother, Colin. A few friends of his came over before a night out, and although Jane was on her way to bed, she decided to stay up to get to know the handsome brown eyed stranger! Jane, later noticed Alex showing up to her plays. Little did they know it wasn't just the theatre Alex was interested in!
We'll never not love the Flower Dude trend!
The Orangery in Killruddery House is such a stunning location for a wedding ceremony. The Venusian white marble sculptures and open airy space creates a beautiful and romantic vibe.
Jane and Alex got engaged on Christmas day of 2018 in a very creative way. We're told he "handed Jane a white box that held a picture viewer inside. As Jane was distracted flicking through the slide show of photographs, Alex very stealthily took out the ring box from his pocket." Jane flicked to the last picture saying “Will you marry me?” and tears of joy began to flow! Of course it was a big yes!
The couple chose their venue after falling in love with it at Alex's sisters wedding. They tell us, "The ceremony in The Orangery followed by the reception in the Grainstore made it the perfect balance of an elegant and a rustic feel."
When it came to advice for other engaged couples, Jane tells us, "Don’t stress the small stuff! Covid has definitely put things into perspective when it comes to planning a wedding. The main memories you want of the day is how joyful it is to all be together"
The couple had their mini-moon in Leitrim and are hoping to head to Iceland in February to see the Northern Lights and dash through the snow on snow-mobiles!
A huge thank you to Jane and Alex for sharing their stunning Kilruddery House wedding with us! A massive thank you also goes to The Portrait Room for these magnificent photos. There are lots more stunning images for you to swoon over below!
