We know our love OneFabDay readers are always on the hunt for some vintage bridal inspiration to get the creative juices flowing for their own weddings so we're delighted today to have a lovely vintage-style bridal shoot to show you from a group of great creatives across the pond in England. It's a beautiful mix of old school romantic vintage and "land girls" 1940s style fun. So fab we had to post it twice (part 2 to come shortly).
The original concept for the shoot was the brainchild of Mandy of Saddleworth Shindigs - a vintage china and prop hire specialist company, and she roped in lots of other vintage lovelies from brooch bouquet & headdresses from Hair Bows Wonderworld, to beautiful confectionery, vintage dresses - add a gorgeous model, fab make-up and hair and some great photographers, a great location in Willington Hall and see what you get...
Mandy's company, Saddleworth Shindigs, like many great bridal companies, started with her own wedding. Mandy and Christ got married in 2008 and they totally DIY-ed their wedding. According to our sources (Lynn) "She has such a good taste and she can make any ordinary room into a vintage heaven." They loved organising and styling their own wedding so they started their business hiring out vintage china and vintage props, and also dressing venues for weddings.
Personally I'm always curious about how these collaborations come about so it was interesting to hear from Lynn in Hair Bows Wonderworld (more about her gorgeous bouquets later) how it came together...
Mandy met photographer Claire Penn on Flickr, so she got to know Andrea and Jo, because these three photographers are close buddies. They enjoy working together, sharing tips and passing on customers to each other. No competition - no jealousy! These amazing ladies have the talent of capturing special moments as well as picking out litte details that really matter throughout one's wedding day.
And how to get the gorgeous model?
Then one night, Andrea accidentally 'picked up' our model in a bar! Amelia - a gorgeous burleque dancer walked pass her just like a beautiful vision from a 40's movie, so Andrea came up and literally begged her to model for the shoot. Then Andrea got to know Hannah - a friend of Amelia who is a makeup artist. She was just beautiful so later on we couldn't help but tell her to ' frock it up' and model, too!
This all sounds like a case of great minds...
Vintage Style & Cupcakes - Double Yum!
All this creative energy produced some fun and fabulous inspirational pictures for anyone thinking of a vintage style wedding.
What could be more idyllic than afternoon tea under the shade of tree - and in an English country house garden like Willington Hall? Perfect! Willington Hall boasts more than 17 acres of gardens and parklands, in the Cheshire countryside, so it's only a hop and a skip from North Wales.
Pink to make the boys wink!
The amazing cakes are the work of Helen Finney from Cats Whiskers Cake Design, another creative connection of Mandy's. From jewel coloured fondant icing to delicate lace-style detailing, and pretty little perfect cupcakes Helen's baking and decorating skills have us awestruck.
If you're contemplating a brooch bouquet on your wedding day, our Lynn from Hair Bows Wonderworld has a great selection of beautiful designs in a variety of colours and styles, we're particularly loving the mixed bouquets of fabric flowers and diamante brooches - my favourite is that with pale pink & gold peonies...
You're just getting a sneak peek at the dresses today, you'll have to hold your breath for the second part of this beautiful shoot to get your vintage frock fix...
Look out for Part 2 - the "land girls" tomorrow...
