Suits, Boots, Veils & Miniskirts: 3 Cool City Wedding Outfit Ideas

Not feeling the big white dress? We got you!

Having a city wedding or small wedding and still mulling over what to wear? You've come to the right place! We're of the opinion that you should wear whatever you want on your wedding day - if that means a ballgown for the registry office, then so be it! But most brides will end up choosing something slightly less formal for a small or city wedding. With this in mind, photographer Sharon Kee created an incredible inspirational photoshoot, which she has been kind enough to share with us! Featuring three drop-dead gorgeous city wedding outfit ideas, her shoot represents the epitome of cool-girl wedding style.

Sharon tells us, "With Covid 19 turning the wedding world on its head, I wanted to inspire and provide couples with ideas and alternatives to the traditional big wedding day. Also, with my work grinding to a halt for over a year, I was dying to get my creative juices flowing and start shooting again." The result is a dreamy, sun-kissed, city wedding shoot in Belfast that we know is going to end up on many a wedding moodboard!

The bridal outfits in this shoot were all sourced from ASOS, with accessories by Deborah K Designs and veils by Milk and Honey Boutique. We love the idea of taking high street buys to the next level with high-end bridal accessories.

Sharon's first look comprises an ASOS shirt and pleated miniskirt with deep red statement heels and two choices of headpiece - a sweet, pearl-embellished bow or a floral headpiece with floral-length veil. A modest floral arrangement works well with this look - all the flowers in the shoot, including this pretty posy, are by Flowers by Ruth Hood. We love how the bride's outfit is echoed in the groom's red shoes, bow tie and pocket square, all by Statement Menswear.

There are statement sleeves and then there are statement sleeves! It takes confidence to pull off this 80s-inspired, tulle-sleeve minidress, but we think it's such a cute look for a city wedding. Teamed with retro ankle boots, a pearl-embellished headband and veil, delicate jewellery, and a generous bouquet with pops of pink, it's equal parts cool and kitschy.

I just love the drama of this extra-long veil!

Of Sharon's three city wedding outfit ideas, this one is probably my personal favourite - an alternative yet elegant ensemble based around a simple ivory trouser suit, paired with ankle-strap sandals, a fedora, and another of those wow-factor, extra-long veils. This look really brings the glamour, and is a great choice if your partner is game for getting dressed up, too!

Thanks so much to Sharon Kee Photography for sharing the images from this gorgeous inspirational shoot with us - we can't wait to see real brides and grooms trying some of these looks! There are even more images to swoon over in the gallery below.
