While we have more of a penchant for celebrating real life couples on their wedding days here at One Fab Day, we can't resist a good celebrity wedding! The couture style, the lavish decor, and the who's who A-list guests, what's not to love? 2019 gave us some some loved-up star couples and some gorgeous weddings, so in our finale round-up of the year, we're bringing you our pick of celebrity weddings from the last 12 months.
1. Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin Bieber
After moving the date several times, Justin and Hailey finally celebrated their religious ceremony with a wedding inspired by The Notebook, at Montage Palmetto Bluff in South Carolina. The bride wore a gown by Virgil Abloh of Off-White paired with her now famous, 'Till Death Do Us Part veil while the groom rocked a dapper black tux. Photographer Jose Villa was charged with documenting the day, though it was the photo booth pictures we were most interested in, with guests that included Kris, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Joan Smalls, Jadin Smith, and a whole bunch of Baldwins piling in for pictures.
2. Zoë Kravitz and Karl Glusman
Actors Zoë Kravitz and Karl Glusman held their second wedding in Paris in June, with a bash at the bride's father's 18th century mansion. While the bride kept schtum on the details of her wedding dress, we love her rehearsal dinner ensemble of white bike shorts by Danielle Frankel with a pearl-heavy crochet dress. The couple were also gifted personalised leather jackets. The star-studded guests included Denzel Washington, Reese Witherspoon, Cara Delevingne and Nicole Kidman and of course, Zoë's parents, Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet.
3. Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas
After making their marriage official in Vegas, Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas celebrated with their family and friends with a beautiful wedding at Château du Martinay in Carpentras, in the South of France. Guests included famous family members Kevin Jonas, Nick Jonas, and Priyanka Chopra, along with the bride's bestie, Maisie Williams and supermodel Ashley Graham. The couple rocked a fiery red gown and suit for their glamorous rehearsal dinner, while they opted for more traditional looks by Louis Vuitton for their flower filled ceremony. Among the dream team of suppliers on the day was top photographer Corbin Gurkin and acclaimed planner, Joy Proctor.
4. Ellie Goulding and Caspar Jopling
Singer Ellie Goulding and art dealer Caspar Jopling married in August at York Cathedral. The bride took our breath away in a show-stopping gown by Natacha Ramsay-Lévi for Chloé, with a high-ruffled neck and ornate beading, it reportedly took 640 hours to make. Guests on the day included Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom, Sienna Miller, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice.
5. Idris Elba and Sabrina Dhowre Elba
Idris and Sabrina Elba's Marrakesh wedding was so gorgeous, their photos by Sean Thomas made the cover of British Vogue. The bride wore Vera Wang and the groom wore Ozwald Boateng for their sunset ceremony in the courtyard of the Ksar Char-Bagh Hotel. Across the three day festival wedding, guests were treated to musicians from Mali, acrobats, fire-breathers and belly dancers from Morocco, and a relaxed next-day pool party with a fireworks finale.
6. Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney
While photos of the bride and groom on their big day are thin on the ground (and blurry!), we don't have to imagine very hard that Jennifer Lawrence looked stunning in Dior as she tied the knot with Cooke Maroney. The pair married at the Belcourt Estate in Rhode Island in October with a star studded bash that included Adele, Amy Schumer, Kris Jenner, Emma Stone, Sienna Miller and Ashley Olsen.
7. Lena Waithe and Alana Mayo
Lena Waithe and Alana Mayo said 'I do' with an intimate ceremony at San Francisco City Hall. Paying homage to those who had fought for decades for LGBTQ rights, the couple said their vows in the courthouse in front of a bust of campaigner Harvey Milk.
8. Heidi Klum and Tom Kaulitz
After making it legal in a secret ceremony, Heidi and Tom held their fun (and super luxe) wedding celebration in Capri aboard a yacht that once belonged to Aristotle Onassis. The vessel was doused in white and blush florals and the bride wore a stunning off-the-shoulder voluminous gown by Pier Paolo Piccioli for Valentino before swapping it out for a more relaxed lace slip dress.
9. Marc Jacobs and Charly Defrancesco
With perhaps the best engaged story ever, (Marc Jacobs proposed to Charly Defrancesco in a Chipotle after a Prince flashmob he organised crashed the burrito restaurant) their wedding was always going to be larger than life! Their April nuptials took place at The Grill restaurant in New York, with more famous faces than an Oscar red carpet. Among the esteemed guest list were, Gigi and Bella Hadid, Chloë Sevigny, Bette Midler, Emily Ratajkowski, Frank Ocean, Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss. The grooms wore contrasting Huntsman Saville Row suits designed by Ralph Fitzgerald, and with killer accessory game, we're not sure what we love more, Jacobs' lemon Gucci boots and Chanel bag or Defancesco's bespoke Christian Louboutin trainers.
10. Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger
Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger married in June at the exclusive San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California. Both the bride and groom wore pieces custom made by Giorgio Armani, with the bride donning not one, but two beautiful gowns. Rob Lowe, Whiney Port, Bryce Dallas Howard were all rumoured to be in attendance and of course members of the Schwarzenegger and Kennedy families too.
11. Vogue Williams & Spencer Matthews
After their intimate family wedding last year, reality stars Vogue and Spencer marked their nuptials with a second celebration in London in September. Joined by their extended friends and family, the wedding was held at Westminster Boating Base on the bank of the River Thames. The ceremony was filmed as part of their series Spencer, Vogue and Wedding Two. The bride looked incredible in a Kate Halfpenny jumpsuit with a strapless neckline and dramatic overlay skirt adorned with embroidered flowers.
12. Dimitri Rassam and Charlotte Casiraghi
A stylish royal wedding for the Monaco royal family, Charlotte, the granddaughter of Grace Kelly, married Dimitri Rassam in June with a civil ceremony at the Prince's Palace of Monaco followed by a traditional Monegasque picnic. For the occasion, the bride wore a grey lace brocade mini dress by Saint Laurent (with bows!) changing it up for a glamorous evening party at the Monte Carlo Beach Hotel with a white strapless satin Chanel gown and her grandmother’s three-strand Cartier diamond necklace. Later in the month, the couple marked their wedding with a religious ceremony in Provence, where the bride wore a custom Giambattista Valli gown reminiscent of her mother Caroline's famous gown. Two chic celebrations, three fabulous dresses!
13. Hilary Duff and Matthew Koma
A very, very, very late addition to our favourite celeb celebrations of 2019 comes in the form of Hilary Duff's December 22nd wedding to singer and record producer Matthew Koma, which was hosted in the couple's front yard in Los Angeles. Hilary wore a caped Jenny Packham dress, which was custom-made in London. Details of the couple's big day are still to be confirmed, but we can't wait to see more from their stylish and intimate soirée!
