Today we're sharing a look inside the celebrity wedding of Irish chef Clodagh McKenna and her English aristocrat and horse trainer beau, Hon Harry Herbert whose beautiful wedding took place on the grounds of the Highclere estate in the UK over the weekend.
The couple tied the knot in a traditional church wedding at St. Michael & All Angels Church which is on the grounds of the Highclere estate in the UK in front of family and friends including singer Imelda May, actor Richard E. Grant, composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales.
Cork native Clodagh who has penned eight cookery books and has a regular cooking slot on ITV's This Morning as well as RTÉ's Clodagh's Irish Food Trails, wowed in a full-length, white lace gown with a v-neckline, embroidered bell sleeves, and floral embroidery detail at the waist. She paired the dress with a matching floor-length, sheer veil and an eye-catching green gem pendant. We love her choice of bouquet, a stunning creation of summer wild flowers!
After their beautiful English country ceremony, the newlyweds posed for snaps at the church entrance with their beloved dogs Alfie and Nolly and their sweet flower girls who wore floral crowns in their hair. The church entrance was decorated with a lush foliage and floral arch, as well as baskets and crates filled to the brim with wildflowers and fresh produce, a nod to the bride's love of cooking and gardening.
The bride had recently shared a funny snap of herself praying to the Child of Prague statue – and judging by the gorgeous pics by Royal Photographer Hugo Burnand, it looks like her prayers were answered!
Following their newlywed snaps, the pair made a fairytale exit to Highclere Castle on a horse drawn carriage steered by the groom who is well-known figure in the world of thoroughbred racing. Harry who is the Queen's godson, is also known for his connections to the award-winning British drama, Downton Abbey as Highclere Castle, which is Harry’s ancestral home, was the location for the beloved TV series.
Harry looked every bit the Downtown Abbey star in an aristocratic suit including a morning tailcoat, pinstripe trousers, cream waistcoat and blue tie!
After the ceremony, the couple and their guests headed for the reception at Broadspear, their home in the Highclere Park estate where they were served drinks and canapés in the couples eighteenth-century walled vegetable and fruit garden, before retiring to a seated dinner in the adjacent woodlands. Their wedding cake was a quintessential English-country garden wedding creation by Claire Ptak of Violet Cakes.
We hear the dinner was sublime and the craic in the Irish pub in the Downton Abbey woods with a ceildh band led by Imelda May (who helicoptered out to open for Van Morrison 100 miles away and then flew back) was mighty!
Congrats to the happy couple!
