It was almost love at first sight for Eve and Eoin, and a summer love fest followed the making of their vows. They chose foodie heaven Brooklodge for the celebration, surrounded by an abundance of summer garden blooms, a princess gown handmade by the bride's mother and gorgeous shabby chic inspired decor. We're delighted to thank Katie Farrell for sharing this lovely wedding with us today...
Eoin and I were introduced in the hospital when we were both visiting our friends’ newborn daughter Laila. I liked him instantly and was sure of it when we saw each other again at the christening a few weeks later. That was seven years ago and we have been together since.
Erring on the side of caution, to make sure his bride had the ring of her dreams, Eoin popped the question with a ring made of copper wire and tin foil. I love when men do this, it's such a lovely keepsake to have and avoids any awkward conversations about "not loving the particular ring " The proposal came in true Eoin style with an asking ring made from copper wire and tinfoil."
While Eoin calmed the last few nerves, Eve looked every inch the elegant bride, in a dress handmade by her mother! Oh, how I envy her - there could be nothing more special than a gown stitched with love by Mum.
The bridesmaids were rretty in pink, wearing floor-length flowing one-shoulder gowns. Eve also had the help of two flowergirls, whose dresses were also made by her mum.
Eve and Eoin decided to have both ceremony and reception in Brooklodge, using the picturesque chapel in the woods for their nuptials. Family and friends decorated the chapel and the bridge leading to the chapel with garlands of blooms, so the overall effect was of a fairytale garden in the woods, "We first found out about Brooklodge when my mother was working there last year. We both loved the location and food. The chapel in the woods and fact that we wouldn't have to move from one location to another on the day were major attractions!"
Tears of joy there, we hope Eoin!
Eve's look is pure elegance...
Eve and Eoin stole a few minutes to take it all in before having some fun with their bridal party, with Katie Farrell quietly observing.
As well as having the trojan efforts of her mother, Eve headed up a team of volunteers to create the day of her dreams.. "We made and organised as much as possible ourselves. Eoin said our office was like a wedding factory in the lead up to the big day. To be honest, I was in my element and it meant we put our own stamp on the day." Like Mother, like daughter so...
Inspired by flower fairy books from her childhood, Eve chose a simple pink and white palette for the bridal party and decor, highlighted with an abundance of summer garden blooms grown by family and friends, and arranged the day before by Eve and her merry band of helpers including her Mum, Eoin's Mum and the bridesmaid. The ladies arranged the sweet pea, hydrangea and roses in vintage teapots and cups for the reception.
Eve and Eoin's table plan was a wishing tree organised by Eve's brother Niall.
Congratulations to Eve and Eoin - hope married life is treating you both well. And a special thank you to Katie Farrell for sharing her work with us at One Fab Day. To see more of Katie's lovely work pop on over to katiefarrellphotography.com.
