Black Tie

Over the last few years, grooms have been are gravitating back towards the timeless elegance of classic tuxedos and black tie and this is a look we will continue to see throughout 2024 and 2025. While the traditional black tie dress code states that black tie must be black, you could also consider a midnight blue for a twist on tradition.

Texture

From brocade, satin and velvet to corduroy, linen and seersucker, we've been seeing lots of texture on suit jackets - and even some full textural suits - on grooms of late, and we're all about adding that touch of luxury to your wedding day look. For those getting married in cooler temperatures, brocade, velvet and tweed or cord are wonderful options, and for those getting married in spring or summer, a pastel satin or linen would be perfect.

Eco-Friendly Options

With couples looking for more ways to have a sustainable wedding, 2024 will see a switch towards natural fabrics for grooms suiting, and you can expect to find mores suits made from linen, tweed, silk, cotton, hemp, fairtrade fabrics and even recycled polyester fabrics as these materials are grown, harvested, and processed with minimal harm to the environment. We're also seeing grooms opting for rentals, vintage suits, and even pre-loved suits from sites such as Vestiare Collective.

Flashing Some Ankle

This trend might be a divisive one, but there's no denying the sockless look is here to stay. If you do want to flash some ankle in your wedding suit, the key is twofold; a great pair of shoes (see loafers, below or a stylish pair of brogues) and some well-tailored, slim fit pants cropped just above the ankle.

Floral Prints

Another trend that can be as pared back or as full bloom as you want it to be, we've seen an increase in floral printed ties, pocket squares, shirts and suit lining, along with a helping of full floral suits. Florals are an effortless way for 2024 grooms to add some colour to their look, especially for spring or summer weddings.

Loafers

A partner trend to the bare ankle (though they can also be worn with socks) loafers have become a staple among the most fashionable grooms of recent years. Brands like Gucci have been leaders in this trend, but you can also find personalised versions as well as plenty of highstreet versions too - see some of our favourite grooms shoes brands here.

Cool & Casual

Few grooms veer away from donning a shirt and tie, but for the guy who wants something more casual, opting for a crisp white tee, or shirt with no tie, or bowtie is an easy way to do it, especially when paired with a coloured suit. This is also a great look for an elopement, the registry office, destination wedding, rehearsal dinner. or day two.

Velvet Blazers

A trend with serious staying power, we love that velvet blazers are still a big trend for grooms. Burgundy, black, green and navy - often paired with a contrasting black lapel - are the most common choices for this trend and work beautifully for autumn or winter weddings. We have seen some colourful evolutions of velvet too though, with camel, terracota, and grey velvet spotted on grooms of Instagram and Pinterest.
