If you have always dreamed of a woodland wedding that is full of deep reds, rusty oranges and warm yellows, you will simply adore this autumnal affair in Beech Hill Country House, Co. Derry. Caoimhe and Rob are from Derry and Sunderland respectively, meeting back when Caoimhe moved to the UK for University. Caoimhe wanted to get married in Ireland and was overjoyed to celebrate with all of her family. Photos were captured by Lisa Mc Conalogue Photography and showcase the details perfectly, from the mixed palette of bridesmaids dresses who carried floral hoops instead of bouquets and a cheese cake to die for.
Caoimhe's wedding ring was a vintage design was created to include the oak leaf which represents Derry. Her dusty pink velvet shoes from Charlotte Mills were adorned with pearls and had the sweetest poem on the sole. Truly swoon worthy!
A friend of the bride created amazing stationery for her big day. The hues of dusty pink work beautifully with her bouquet of dried flowers and grasses mixed with fresh roses. Caoimhe's gorgeous crown made her look the belle of the woodland ball! Her jewellery was her something borrowed and old, as she wore her grandmother's emerald bracelet, while sweetly gifted Caoimhe some emerald earrings on the morning of the wedding to match.
Caoimhe and Rob met 10 years prior to their big day and it was pretty soon after their first date that Caoimhe knew she had found her man. The pair saw each other a few days after the date in the library but Caoimhe was feeling very unwell. Rob being the gentleman that he is walked her home, where we are told she "proceeded to vomit all over his back and arm as she pulled him in front of her as a human shield to protect a passerby." Later that day Rob came over to check on Caoimhe with some supplies, including flat 7UP. "Anyone who knows that flat 7UP cures all illnesses is a keeper," she laughs.
We adored the bridesmaids hoop bouquets which are bang on trend and super sweet with their different dress colours. A gorgeous alternative to bouquets!
Flower girl Saoirse is Caoimhe's niece and goddaughter, she had a great time dressing up in pretty shades of pink with her proud aunty. Caoimhe and Rob's dog Finn was also delighted to be part of the fun on the day. However, Caoimhe's dad did get a little teary eyed when he saw his daughter for the first time in her dress. How sweet!
Rob and Caoimhe knew they wanted to have their special day in Beech Hill. "The woodland ceremony space at the Beech Hill was what sold it for us," said Caoimhe. "It felt very homely from the moment we set foot in the building. They are a dog friendly venue, so our fur baby was able to be with us all day and stay overnight!"
The floral arch was a mixture of fresh and dried blooms that was designed and arranged by the Caoimhe's aunt, a good friend and the bride herself. "We used a mixture of dried and faux flowers, sourced from local wholesalers, and for the foliage on the arch we used fresh foliage gathered from our families gardens," she tells us. The beautiful and flower arch included roses, ivy, dried palm fronds and eucalyptus, each with its own special meaning.
Another ode to their perfect woodland wedding was this rustic open hut feature on site made from branches. it was so gorgeous for capturing their dreamy photos with the deep rich greens, reds and yellows giving a sense of the season. These colour combos are truly magical!
The couple had originally planned for an outdoor ceremony in the woods but due to rainfall they had an indoor ceremony instead with pictures afterwards in the woods. Caoimhe says that rain on your wedding day is meant to be a sign of good luck; we love that!
Something special that the couple really adored was the fact that so many people had helped with the organising and this really made their day personal and special to them. Caoimhe also wrote a poem for her beloved called 'Our Days' which recollected all of their memories over the years and had some teary eyes in the house.
Caoimhe's advice for couples is: "Do not sweat the small stuff, don’t worry about something not going to plan, because on the day it won’t really matter, you will just be totally in awe of your partner and the love from your family and friends," she explained.
Cheese lovers, this one is for you! The couple opted for a cheese wheel cake with supplies from Sheridan's Cheese Mongers Dublin in keeping with that rustic feel, and we can totally see why! Caoimhe and her friends assembled this amazing cake, chutney and fruit selection that looks very moreish.
The tables were named by using amazing watercolour stationery with sweet bohemian designs!
"I really recommend having your photos alone. Have a couple with the bridal party, but then just spend time the two of you talking, walking, laughing, try to relax and enjoy this part; it was definitely our favourite bit of the day," says Caoimhe.
For their honeymoon, the couple went to the Maldives and stayed at the RIU Palace. "It was incredible and we would highly recommend. We stayed in a water villa, and spent the majority of our days snorkelling in the crystal clear waters, exploring endless coral and looking at beautiful colourful tropical fish. Pictures do not do this destination and its beauty justice. The holiday of a lifetime for sure!"
We would like to say a huge thank you to Caoimhe and Rob for sharing their beautiful woodland wedding day with us. Another special thanks to Lisa Mc Conalogue Photography for these amazing images. There are more wonderful images below for you to pore over.
