The couple in today's real wedding Emma and Philip, faced plenty of challenges in planning their big day at The K Club, between ever-changing Covid-19 restrictions (the country went back into lockdown the day after they tied the knot!) and the rainy, overcast weather on the day itself. But none of this comes to mind when you look at the images of their K Club wedding, captured by Julie Cummins Photography. Instead, you just see two deliriously happy people, who, with the help of family and friends, created an outrageously elegant and subtly festive Christmastime celebration. Let's take a closer look, shall we!?
Emma and Philip are actually teenage sweethearts! "We met in school aged 14 and 16, and have been together ever since! We’ve grown up together and now we get to grow old together!" Ah stop, how sweet are these guys!?
Many years later, Philip proposed to Emma on a trip to Venice. "He popped the question, down on one knee on a little bridge over the canal, with a ring he designed himself, with the help of my Dad," Emma tells us.
From the very beginning, this couple had two top priorities for their wedding. Emma says, "We wanted the day to be calm and relaxed, and we wanted it to be about us and our family and friends."
It sounds like the planning process was far from easy for this pair. "As a 'Covid Couple’, we had so many ups and downs, chopping and changing throughout the planning process but, in the end, created a beautiful day filled with love and laughter. The vibe was classy, understated, sophisticated and romantic."
How incredible does Philip look in his tux? He went for a classic black tuxedo from groomswear experts Louis Copeland & Sons, and we think it was the perfect choice.
One of our favourite details from this wedding is the beautiful jumper that Emma wore on the big day. She tells us, "My mother is a cashmere designer and designed my bridal jumper, the bridesmaids cardigans and flower girl's cardigan."
We love the shade of forest green that Emma's besties wore on the big day - perfect for a Winter wedding!
As Emma works at The K Club, there was no question that the couple were going to host their wedding there! "I grew up in Straffan so it holds a special place in our hearts," she says. "The beautiful Tara Suite allowed us to host an intimate celebration with our nearest and dearest."
Emma found her show-stopping wedding dress at one of our favourite bridal boutiques, The White Room in Mullingar. It's by Mikaella Bridal, and we are in love with that statement bow!
Emma's advice for engaged couples is so sensible, we just had to share it. She says, "Plan for the day that you want, go with the flow and try not to worry too much."
One of the bride's favourite things about the day was having four generations of the women in her family present on the day - her grandmother, mother, her sister and her niece! How special!
Emma tells us that her best friend and bridesmaid made the couple's astonishing wedding cake - what a talented woman!
Ireland went back into lockdown the day after Emma and Philip's wedding so they went straight home afterwards, but they're hoping to make up for this with a honeymoon at some point in the future. "When Covid is over, we plan to go somewhere tropical in the sun to celebrate!" they tell us.
Thanks so much to Emma and Philip for sharing their gorgeous K Club wedding with us, and to Julie Cummins Photography for providing the beautiful imagery! There are even more photographs to swoon over in the gallery below.
