When Laura surprised her beau Steve with a festive weekend away little did she know he was planning his very own Christmas surprise...A proposal! Today's lovebirds met at a mutual friend's wedding (even though they had been in school together!) and hit it off right away. Fast forward to their Walcot Hall wedding day which is the cosiest, most festive love filled day, just what this sweet pair wanted. Wait until you see it...
After their love blossomed, Laura and Steve embarked on a long distance relationship with Steve being in Aberdeen and Laura in Kent. Absence certainly made the heart grow fonder and both knew this was the real deal very early on.
Just look at how stunning Laura's Needle & Thread gown is...The perfect dress for a festive celebration!
After the most perfect proposal, the couple spent the day wandering through the festive stalls in Edinburgh and got a sense fairly quickly what type of wedding they wanted. Laura explains...“We spent the day ice skating and looking around the Christmas markets, we couldn't not have a Christmas wedding after that!”
Family is massively important to Laura and Steve and they wanted to include their nearest and dearest as much as possible on the day. Laura describes the overall vibe on the day..."Our wedding was super relaxed, a big family affair with everyone spending the week together at the gorgeous Walcot Hall, family, pets and all! During the ceremony, there were readings from their closest friends and a beautiful song sang by Steve’s talented 9 year old cousin. How amazing! I bet there wasn't a dry eye in the place!
Yay for the new Mr & Mrs!
Laura nailed her winter colour palette. Rich, luxurious blues paired with opulent purples and touches of winter white. Utterly beautiful!
Looking good lads!
Choosing a venue is one of the biggest decisions you'll make on the wedding planning journey but for Laura and Steve, it was super simple! Once they saw Walcott Hall in Shropshire, it was a done deal. Laura says…“It was just so ‘us’. Everyone could stay on site in the cutest selection of eclectic properties, each with a real Christmas tree and log fire, it was just bliss!” Sounds so cozy!
When a couple's main priority is having a great day filled with love, friendship and great food, you know you're on to a winner! Doughnut towers and toasted marshmallows...Lucky guests!
We love to hear what advice newly married couples would give to others in the midst of planning. Here's Laura and Steve's takeaways…“Plan your day, not a wedding for anyone else, even if you face some criticism, it's important to do what you want no matter how unconventional.” Solid advice. It's so important not to get lost in the 'you have to do's' that people throw your way!
After all the festive celebrations the couple jetted off to Cambodia for a bit of R&R and a whole lot of sunshine! Huge congratulations to you both and thanks so much for sharing your wedding day with us all! A big thank you also goes to Olivia Moon for sharing her work with us.
