Love, fun and wild-flowers were the top wedding priorities for adorable couple Georgia and Chris. Running with this theme, Georgia and Chris created a charming handcrafted wedding amongst the gardens and barn at Larchfield Estate. Each moment was captured by London photographer Wedabelle and we’re delighted to share it with you today...
Georgia and Chris met first met a few weeks before Georgia was about to start university and Chris had just finished his degree. Georgia tells us... We met in a small town in the south of Ireland which is close to both of our hearts called Dunfanaghy. I had spent every summer there for my whole life and stayed in her granny’s cottage, whilst Chris’ family also holidayed there.
Georgia continues... We met on a sleepy Tuesday night in August 2008 in a tiny bar in the town. We spent the next 5 years living apart one in Sheffield and one in Glasgow whilst I finished my degree. Then we moved in together 3 years ago in Northern Ireland – and we spend many weekends in Dunfanaghy in the spot where it all began!
Smitten, Georgia and Chris got engaged whilst on holiday in Italy. The pair then began to plan their wedding back home in Northern Ireland.
It was all hands on deck vibes for the wedding with the wedding car borrowed from a friend, a handmade garter made by Georgia’s mum and Chris’ 2 sisters and niece singing Chris and Georgia’s favourite song during the ceremony (You and Me by Penny and the Quarters.)
Georgia details some other favourite memories from the wedding ... A beautiful movie my family made for us totally in secret and then surprised us on the day. The mastermind behind it was my cousin Clare who was my maid of honour and a total and utter legend. The handmade tree with photographs of weddings down the generations on both bride and grooms side brought a special personal touch. The beautiful cake was handmade by my sister in law Nicola who had never made a wedding cake in her life! She did an amazing job and it was more stylish and pretty than I could have ever imagined - very tasty too! It was a very special touch.
Keen to have an informal feel to the day Georgia and Chris decorated the venue with wild flowers and made sure everyone had plenty of food and drink. Georgia describes the reception... The wedding was rustic and informal with wild garden flowers, vintage lace, handmade table decor and personal touches of family photographs.
What an impressive DIY wedding cake!
If you love the look and feel of this wedding Georgia has some words of advice to help you recreate it... Don’t get caught up in the fluster and stress of planning etc – it’s your day and it’s meant to be fun – obsessing over tiny things is only going to make your day less enjoyable- no one else notices if you didn’t put that ribbon there or you forgot to put a candle here – they are all there to watch you get married and that’s all that matters at the end of the day!
For their honeymoon the happy couple enjoyed a break from reality in South Africa and Mauritius. Huge congratulations to you both and thanks so much for sharing your Larchfield Estate wedding day with us all.
