We don't talk enough about wedding lingerie around here, but frankly, it's a pretty important part of your big day style. Whether you sport something lacy under your wedding dress, or save the sexy lingerie for your wedding night or honeymoon, every bride needs an arsenal of pretty pieces that make her feel like a bombshell. Which is what this super chic styled shoot is all about. Captured by Lisa McConalogue Photography at Rosemount Factory in Derry, styled by Megan Therese Couture Bridal Accessories and featuring some talented female wedding suppliers, this is a bridal boudoir inspiration that's understated, sexy and gorgeous.
How stunning is this vintage engagement ring? I think it's an aquamarine stone (or perhaps topaz?) either way, it's fab!
The team behind this shoot have worked together before, so the collaboration for this one was natural, “We had always planned to do another so I contacted Megan, Teresa and Tara and we met for coffee and some brainstorming. Megan designs beautiful veils and headpieces but has now started designing stunning garters so we felt a lingerie shoot would be perfect to showcase them,” explains photographer Lisa McConalogue.
The team wanted the shoot to be tasteful and soft, “Every bride has to accessorise for their wedding day, choosing a veil, headpiece, garter, earrings and underwear are all very important and we wanted to portray this in the most wonderful way possible.”
Fun fact, this gorgeous lady, Grainne Gallanagh has just been crowned Miss Universe Ireland!
Love this pretty pearl and gold garter, such a pretty alternative to a traditional lace or silk garter.
Lisa tells us that because they wanted the shoot to have a nostalgic feel, the location choice was important, “Inspired by Derry City’s legacy and history as being revolutionary in the shirt and textile industry of the 1900s we felt Rosemount Factory was the perfect choice. As one of the city’s oldest factories, steeped in history with a female workforce, who powered much of the industrial development of Derry and produced some of the finest shirts in the world, we felt it was the ideal backdrop for our bridal portraits.”
These earrings match the engagement ring beautifully!
The photographer aimed to tell a story though the images, “A bride’s wedding preparations and the romance surrounding true love. We romanticised over the thoughtfulness of penning a sweet note to that bride-to-be and how delivering our love through words is a thing of the past. A quiet moment of reflection for the bride before she slips on her wedding garter and gown.”
The details and styling give the shoot a luxurious bridal feel, “Our brides are elegant and graceful wearing flowing lace and delicate lingerie, luxury garters and romantic veils. Our colour palette was inspired by femininity with neutral shades of ivory, cream and soft blue tones. We opted for soft flowing hair and natural makeup keeping the look relaxed yet stylish.”
The suppliers behind the shoot wanted to make sure there was lots of ideas and inspiration for brides in the throes of wedding planning, “We wanted to introduce fresh and modern bridal garter designs and artisan products to the discerning fine art bride. The contrast between the soft flowing fabric backdrop to the historic red brick gives a wonderful mix of old and new. The high ceilings and large windows allowed the space to be flooded with light. We captured a sense of calm and used the soft flowing light to surround our beautiful models.”
Layers of lace and tulle are always a hit with us - and perfect for feeling covered-up while
We love that as dreamy and romantic as this shoot is, it has a another motive behind it too, “This dreamy collaboration is from all local female artisans. It demonstrates that craftswomen in the city live on in many forms, from designers to photographers. We felt it was a fitting tribute to all the female workers."
All the dreaminess! Thanks so much to Lisa McConalogue Photography and the rest of the amazing suppliers behind the shoot for sharing it with us.
