And if there was one wedding flower trend that's more bright, modern, and gorgeous than the rest, it has to be Iceland Poppies - these blooms were everywhere! Wild, papery and bold, these versatile orange wedding flowers look beautiful with a spectrum of hues and a variety of blooms. So as an ode to our new favourite flower, we're bring you inspiration and tips for including Iceland Poppies in your wedding flowers.
How to Use Iceland Poppies in your Wedding Flowers
- The Iceland Poppy comes in a variety of colours, from white and yellow to a bright orange or a coral pink, talk to your wedding florist about what you have in mind, and they'll do their best to find the shade to suit.
- Iceland Poppies are in season in both in autumn and spring, meaning they're a great option for adding colour to your wedding flowers outside of summer.
- Similar in style to anemones, Iceland Poppies pair beautifully with roses, clematis, magnolia, chocolate cosmos, ranunculus, peonies, periwinkles, hellibore and cherry blossom.
- With wirey, leafless stems and a mind of their own, Iceland Poppies not always the best fit for a neat posy bouquet, they work best in wild, oversized arrangements or cascading bouquets, and can bring height and texture to your wedding flowers.
- As they look almost like paper, there are lots of paper varieties too, which are particularly popular for cakes and flower crowns.
- As poppies don't last long, make sure any table arrangements have water in them, and keep your bouquet in a vase of water until the last possible minute to get the most from your blooms.
