Classic Vintage Romance - Bronagh and David by Sara Dalzell

Classic Summer Romance - if they're 3 words you would like to describe your wedding then you'll find Bronagh and Dave's wedding more than a little inspiring. Soft tones, vintage stationery, summer blooms and a great spread after the church, all lovely touches for a lovely couple

Classic Summer Romance - three words that sum up Bronagh and David's wedding perfectly. From the Bronagh's pretty as a princess bridal style, complete with epic veil, to the beautiful summer flowers and pretty lace details, this wedding will satisfy the little girl inside. Thanks to Sara Dalzell, who captured all the loveliness...

Ah, but the story doesn't just end there! We've got to hear about the proposal... "We'd been dating for three years and had decided to book a holiday to Nice, South of France with my best friend Caroline and her husband Gerard. Myself and Caroline planned and booked the holiday unaware that David was going to propose. Caroline and Gerard returned home after a week and we stayed on an extra few days for my birthday. Unbeknownst to me David had rung my Father to ask him for my hand in marriage during the trip. We arrived back to our apartment from dinner on the night of my birthday and David asked me to wait inside as he'd a surprise for me out on the veranda. I walked out, completely shocked to see a pathway made out of candlelight with David at the end, down on one knee! It was so magical! David proposed to me with a token ring, allowing me to choose one when we returned to Ireland. We celebrated over a bottle of champagne before sharing our good news with our friends and family."

Bronagh's bridal style was classically elegant, with a touch of old world vintage style. Her lace wedding dress was simple and chic, her bridesmaids elegant in floor-length mocha chiffon cowl neck dresses, this simple palette was set off beautifully by accessories and details such as Bronagh's amazing princess style veil, specially trimmed in lace by Elody bridal, and the soft natural bouquets.

It's always the little touches that mean the most...

"Even though we'd hired the black chrysler, my bridesmaid Caroline gave me an amazing surprise on the morning of our wedding. She arranged for her father, Robbie McCann, to drive me to the chapel in one of his many vintage cars from his collection, a 1967 blue Morris Minor. It was my something old and something blue, she had even decorated it with lace to tie in with our theme!"

And on to the chapel, where one anxious man awaits his girl...

Is that a tear David???

Only the other day, on Silvia and Riccardo's Ibiza wedding, the idea of post-ceremony refreshments were introduced, and I wondered aloud about how they could be incorporated into an Irish wedding. Lo, and behold, here we are...  "After the ceremony we supplied our guests outside with fresh tea/coffee, sandwiches and cupcakes to take on their hour long journey to the reception. Majella and the girls from Cafe Fresh even dressed up in Vintage style clothing to tie in with our theme! They provided an excellent service and their catering was to an extremely high standard, everyone loved the sandwiches!" Super idea guys!

Brown bags - best way to keep those guests happy and occupied, while the two of you sneak off for some pics...

I don't know which of them looks happier...

If, like me, you love a good diamond, you'll be interested in Bronagh's top tip... Tom from Diamant helped us to design our rings. They were then custom made in Antwerp and flown back to his office. Tom was so professional and made the whole process extremely easy for us...giving us great advice about diamonds and wedding bands. I'd highly recommend his service and saved us the trip to Antwerp, the capital of Diamonds!

Because we met while travelling we wanted to incorporate this into our wedding. I also love all things vintage/ country style so we designed our wedding around this. We designed our vintage postcard invitations to work in with the theme - the vintage stamps and travel tags played a big part. Rachel, the owner of Arbee cards, specialises in custom, bespoke and vintage inspired wedding stationery, handmade cards and stationery. I was so excited when I first met Rachel as she had so many amazing ideas and she also listened to how I wanted to incorporate our vintage/ travel theme.

I loved her postcard idea and as we got chatting about the whole wedding we came up with our unique invitation design- vintage lace trimming to tie in with my lace wedding dress, travel tag (for the travel theme) and vintage stamps from australia (where we first met), France (where we got engaged) and Ireland (we are both from). The invitations meant so much to us and we were delighted they captured our little story all on one card. They were expertly made by Rachel and every last detail was to perfection. If you like all things vintage, Rachel is the person to hire for your stationery!

After discussing our wedding theme with Janice she knew straight away what to do- vintage, soft coloured roses mixed in with greenery and other wild country looking flowers in pinks and ivory. Janice had a massive task on her hands to fill a large amount of jam jars, tea cups, tea pots, milk jugs and all the other nic nacs I gave to her to tie in with our vintage theme for the ceremony and the reception décor. Being the true professional at her craft she made everything look spectacular! We were thrilled!

What advice would you give to brides and grooms planning their day? "Don't get stressed out over small things in the final days before your wedding. Relax and enjoy the whole build up towards your special day and the day itself as it all goes in so fast!"

Wise words from one who knows... And that leaves us with only love and congratulations to wish to David and Bronagh, and special thanks for sharing their beautiful day with us. Thanks too, of course, to Sara Dalzell for sharing her work behind the camera - lots more to see over on saradalzellphotography.com
