Having had their first holiday at Lake Garda Laura and Mike knew it would be the perfect spot for their intimate vintage inspired family wedding. Incorporating breathtaking views of the lake, Italian gardens and terraces, beautiful plants and flowers and a gothic Venetian villa full of history, not to mention quaint vintage styling, this destination wedding by Morlotti Studio Venice will have you dreaming of summer holidays...
The lovely Laura remembers how she and Mike met..."We met on Halloween night at a mutual friend’s Halloween party. We had been at the same party several times before, but our paths had never crossed. We later went into town and shared a sneaky kiss on the street, he was dressed as Walter White from Breaking Bad and I was dressed as a nurse so it must have been a funny sight! After that night he took my number and we started dating. I lived two and a half hours away from him and he drove up to me every weekend on his motorbike, even in snow and frost! A year later we moved in together."
Laura continues with their proposal story..."I surprised Mike and my daughter Kate with a trip to Paris for Christmas but little did I know that Mike had his own surprise planned. On our final day of the trip we had planned to take a boat ride down the River Seine before returning home. On the way to get the boat I saw the Love Lock bridge which is somewhere I’ve always wanted to see. We started to walk across it and Mike said he had a lock with our three names on it. I put the lock on the bridge and when I turned around to get the key Mike was down on one knee with the key in a ring box under the most beautiful engagement ring. He also had another box with a second key and a silver and diamond heart chain for my daughter Kate. I said yes, we closed the lock and threw the keys into the river – a symbol of love that cannot be broken."
To celebrate their wedding Laura and Mike chose the scenic surroundings of Lake Garda, where they said their vows by the lake and later partied in vintage style under the Loggia of the beautiful Venetian villa on the island.
Laura remembers their sentimental ceremony..."Our ceremony was very different and very personal to us. We really wanted our daughter Kate included in the ceremony so we didn't use the traditional vows. Instead we used family vows where Kate stood up with us and we promised to always love and look after each other and be good to each other for the rest of our lives. We also sent around our wedding bands in a vintage teacup and asked all our guests to make a wish on them."
With the help of a wedding planner Laura and Mike decorated their venue with a vintage aesthetic. Laura describes the look and feel of the day..."Our wedding had a vintage theme as both myself and Mike love vintage things. I wore a 50’s style tea length dress and Mike wore a grey morning suit with a bow tie and 50's style shoes. Our reception area was decorated with vintage cups, laces, an original vintage photo camera and photographs, old books and a vintage suitcase full of baby’s breath. It felt like we were stepping back in time for the day."
