Family Fun on the Vineyard: Kensi & Nelson's South African Wedding

This bride had her heart set on a vineyard wedding...

Today's real wedding is that of Kensi and Nelson who were surrounded by their nearest and dearest for their nuptials in the South African wine farm of Vrede en Lust - literally! With their guests seated all around them, this couple wanted to create a true sense of celebration and intimacy for their wedding and that they achieved. The whole thing was captured wonderfully by ZaraZoo Photography.

Kensi and Nelson have known each other for years but it wasn't quite romance to start with. "We've known each other since I was a child," Kensi told us. "Years later, in 2017, he asked me out on a date. I hadn't seen him for a couple of years and wasn't sure if it was a real date or just a catch-up. Turned out to be a date where he told me he would marry me. I actually ran away from the lunch because I was so surprised! But I decided to give him a chance and see where it would take us - well, it took us to an engagement just 10 months later!"

Speaking of engagement, Nelson opted against the big gesture and instead kept things intimate and private. "The proposal was so simple," Kensi gushed. "He just came to my place one evening with a ring. I was sort of expecting it. But he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him."

When it came to wedding planning, Kendi and Nelson had a pretty clear idea of what they wanted from the get-go. "I had always said that if I ever got married, it would be on a vineyard," Kensi told us. "Choosing Vrede en Lust itself, I just loved the different areas that we could use. We loved the backdrop of the mountains and the vineyards - as well as the fact that. number of us could stay over on the farm. In the end, about 30 of us stayed on the farm and celebrated my birthday with a braai the day before the wedding."

This couple wanted it to be a party for them and their guests. "We just wanted to have fun and create an intimate ceremony for our family and friends. The ceremony itself was set up in a circle so we could all feel together because our families have known each other for years. It was so relaxed and everyone just had a ball!"

But to create a wedding day so relaxed and full of fun, Kensi and Nelson have this advice to share. "Get a wedding planner! We had no stress about plans coming together on the day as we knew it was all handled. We just enjoyed it all... and everything ran on time!"

Guests were treated to a fun cocktail reception at the vineyard filled with bubbly and oysters.

Their beautiful reception space which featured a black, white and blush scheme, was accented with geometric decor and filled to the brim with beautiful pastel booms.

Thanks so much to today's couple Kensi and Nelson for sharing a look inside their gorgeous vineyard wedding and to ZaraZoo Photography for capturing it all.
