A Whirlwind Romance: Indré & Arturas

An intimate celebration with a lot of dancing!

One of the most fun things about sharing real weddings is that occasionally, we get to see what weddings are like in different parts of the world. And Indré and Arturas' emotional wedding in Lithuania is a real treat. After a whirlwind romance that went from friendship to marriage in a year, this couple opted for a fun and intimate wedding at the beautiful Villa Genovefa, in Švėkšna. With a stunning ceremony setting, pretty style, and lots (and lots!) of dancing, all documented by Photo Aiste, let this sweet couple show you how it's done - Lithuanian style!

Indré and Arturas first met while they were studying at the Klaipeda State University but it took a while for their relationship to take off, as the bride tells us, “We were only friends for several years, even though we secretly liked each other. Later on, Arturas dropped out university and moved to Norway where he got a job, while I was continuing studies in Lithuania. During all this time we didn’t meet up or talk to each other.”

After five years apart, it was Indré who made the first move, “I decided to write him a message and then it all started… We had a long distance relationship for six months. Then he came back to Lithuania to propose to me. When I said “YES”, we both moved to Norway and got married in another half a year!” Talk about a whirlwind!

And as if this celebration wasn’t special enough, Indré let us in on some pretty epic news “I was pregnant on our wedding day.” Congratulations guys, we do love a double celebration!

Indré and Arturas say their wedding day was even better than they’d expected, “All the emotions that we expected to feel that day were at least three time stronger! We were so happy that all the vendors understood our vision and did their job really well. We had dreamed about a warm, cosy wedding that felt like ‘us’.”

And it was creating a wedding that felt authentic to them that was the biggest priority for Indré and Arturas. “ A celebration for OURSELVES. Not for friends or relatives, we had 33 guests altogether so only the people closest to us were invited.”

How spectacular is this church? The building is beautiful enough, but these dramatic lace garlands add such a sense of occasion.

Indré is such a babe, we love her glam waves paired with her pretty flower crown and lace appliqué wedding dress.

Arturas' burgundy suit and skinny tie are so cool too - I see a lot of grooms borrowing this look!

The couple chose their venue, Villa Genowefa for its gorgeous location, “First of all, it’s an amazingly beautiful villa”, gushes Indré. “And it was surrounded by beautiful nature. Also, it was really convenient for us. The church for our ceremony was just across the park, the venue offers rooms to stay and we didn’t have to go anywhere else for a photoshoot. It was all in one place.”

The couple had lots of fun moments and meaningful details throughout the day, “My sister read the poem in the beginning of the evening and it was very personal and sentimental,” says Indra, “Also, while we were attending photoshoot, my friend organised a flashmob for us. It was amazing!”

My hand would be straight into that chocolate fountain too!

The couple kept their light-filled reception space simple with white decor and touches of gold.

Who says you need a lot of guests to have a full dancefloor and a party atmosphere!

The couple say it’s important to put yourself and your other half first when you’re planning a wedding. “Do not forget that it is the celebration of two people love and you should organise your wedding day the way you want. There are no rules,” advises Indré. “Our special day was about feelings, love, and emotions.”

The couple ended their day on a high with a fire show for their guests as the sun set.

The couple headed off on my kind of chilled out honeymoon, “We had a week of relaxation in Vytautas Mineral Spa”.

Thanks so much to Indré and Arturas for sharing your gorgeous wedding - and congratulations on your big news! And of course, thanks to Photo Aiste for sharing these fabulous photos.
