Today's real wedding is the definition of urban chic! Sarah and Sean's day was a true celebration of Dublin, the city in which they met and live in, with a tour of Dublin hotspots for their guests and a fun, modern, laidback vibe. From the beautiful city backdrop and chic venue styling, to the Bride in her modern, bespoke mini wedding dress and the couple's super stylish bridal party, it's the perfect blueprint if you're planning your Big Day bash in the city! Take a peek at all of the style and fun, captured stunningly by Ivana Patarcic Photography!
Dublin couple Sarah and Sean tell us they first met at a party over 14 years ago but had been out in the same groups together before without being introduced. Sarah says, 'we had a lot of mutual friends so I suppose it was only a matter of time!' She adds, 'I called my mom the day after I met him and told her I’d found the man I was going to marry!'.
The proposal happened on a windy December day while the couple were visiting Inis Meáin, where Sarah's parents live. Sarah fills us in, 'we walked to the island cliffs, my pockets were stuffed with carrots for my beloved equestrian friends and he got down on one knee. It was so simple and so perfect.'
When it came to planning their chic city affair, the couples priorities were simple; they wanted the focus to be on 'love, good vibes and great food.' The bride says, 'I really didn’t want to do a traditional wedding ‘just because’, I wanted to make sure that the day stayed in line with what we really wanted and that we didn’t bow to pressure about what we ‘should’ do… thankfully we didn’t have any pressure from our amazing family and friends so we were able to run with whatever plan we truly wanted.'
And the perfect spot for this urban couple? Dublin City, of course! The wedding took place across three iconic venues in the heart of the city - The Yarn at The Woollen Mills, The Whiskey Palace on Fleet Street and The Winding Stair. 'It was important to us that our guests could come in to town, have a great night out and head home again so city centre was a high priority. Plus, I adore the fact that The Yarn overlooks the Ha’penny Bridge; what could be more quintessentially Dublin than that?'
The ceremony was held on the roof terrace of The Yarn, and Sarah walked down the aisle with her dad to Mary Black's version of ‘She Moved Through The Fair’.
The couple tell us friends and family made their ceremony extra special. 'Our friend Jackie Beverly sang at our ceremony and Sean’s uncle was our celebrant which was such a personal touch, he got all of our guests to join in a beautiful ‘for marriage’ reading together at the end which was so special.'
The couple exchanged rings from Etsy before heading out in to the Dublin streets for their newly-wed shots.
We love the couples meaningful and sustainable wedding confetti which was a DIY project with dehydrated roses from Sarah's late grandmother’s garden.
You might recognise our beautiful bride Sarah as she is the face behind the Instagram account I Come Undone.
Sarah worked with the talented ladies at Covet to design her contemporary wedding dress and custom-made veil. Covet also loaned her the beautiful oversized bridal hair bow for the day. She completed her bridal look with chic block heels, perfect for navigating the Dublin City streets!
Sean’s stylish beige suit was a clever find from Littlewoods. The groomsmen’s slacks were also from Littlewoods while the bride's bridal party wore mix and match looks from Folkster (burnt orange dress), Arnotts (burgundy jumpsuit) and ASOS (the pink suit).
After the ceremony the couple and 38 of their nearest and dearest headed to The Palace Bar on Fleet Street, another iconic Dublin establishment, for toasties and pints! Sounds like the perfect drinks reception to us! I mean, who doesn’t love toasties and pints?
The dinner reception was held at The Winding Stair, accompanied by speeches from the couple’s family and friends.
Sarah and Sean's advice for engaged couples is, 'Spend on what really matters to you as a couple and save on what doesn’t. We spent a good bit on our photographer and the meal as they were both non-negotiables for us; we saved on not having wedding cars or a cake as they weren’t important to us. You don’t have to include any expenses that don’t matter to you!'
After the wedding, the couple rented a villa in Lanzarote for a month, and it sounds incredible! Sarah tells us, 'we wanted a good time away as we hadn’t traveled overseas since pre-Covid and with my work as an Experience Planner I was able to really delved into researching and create a really unique itinerary of activities to enjoy and restaurants to visit over the month… we had a brilliant time'
Thanks so much to Sarah and Sean for sharing their gorgeous, modern city wedding with us, and to Ivana Patarcic and second photographer Jasna Pasalic for providing all the beautiful imagery! There are even more photographs to swoon over in the gallery below.
