They say the early bird catches the worm. Well if you were up at dawn on a summer morning in London you never know what fashion-forward bridal inspiration worm you might catch...
Photographer Julie Cummins wanted to shake things up and created a completely different take on bridal styling with her "Anti-Bridal shoot". With a contemporary and more fashion-forward style, this urban bridal photoshoot is a refreshing bit of eye-candy for those of us not always on the pretty, pretty vibe...
As Julie explained "I wanted to portray a completely different side of 'bridal'... an edgy, more urban side. I decided that the girls should nearly look like mannequins, with completely dead looks in their eyes, instead of the usual soft, pretty images that are always used when it comes to bridal images.
The wedding dresses chosen by stylist Abigail Everard, who is also one of the models, are distinctly vintage with tiered lace and sleeves, they are reminiscent of Edwardian tea dresses (my favourite vintage look coincidentally). The hair & makeup by Dolly & Rhonda, with strong lips, subtle eyes and the backcombed volume hair combined with slicked partings is a great update on Edwardian style bouffants.
I am loving the androgynous bride-groom
Hope you enjoyed that fun fashion eye-candy. I'm definitely an urban bride girl I've decided. If you're more into a classic vintage feel or looking for a gorgeous budget dress, check out Julie Cummins' recent budget bridal shoot.
I wonder what the early morning city types made of the model-mannequins stony silent and stiff as a board on the streets 🙂
