Every real wedding we feature on One Fab Day has some kind of unique wedding ideas. Sometimes it's unusual bouquets or avant garde style, it could be a fun activity or a different choice of entertainment. And sometimes it's the way the couple gets married entirely, tossing out the rulebook and flipping things on their heads.
So as we continue our recap of 2017, we wanted to pay homage to those rule-breakers and showcase some of our favourite unique wedding ideas of the year. Take note folks, these could be the next big wedding trends in the making...
Áine - Business Development Manager
Áine's Pick: Jenny & Lloyd's cherry blossom church decor - see their gorgeous wedding by Damien Milan here.
The cherry blossom-style aisle arrangements are so lovely, I haven't seen that before in a wedding and it was gorgeous.
Áine also loved Taylor & Taylor's compass wedding favours.
Eimear - Brand Relations Manager
Eimear's Pick: Annie & Scott's fun alternative cocktail hour picnic - see their entirely unique wedding by Heart and Colour here.
I thought this was a great post-ceremony idea for guests to relax and enjoy the celebrations ahead of a more formal reception later that day.
Eimear also loved Allie & Nate's colourful ceremony backdrop.
Joanna - Marketing Manager
Joanna's Pick: Ellen's fabulous floral upstyle from her and Blake's super chic London wedding - see their day in full, by We Heart Pictures, here.
We see so many fresh flower crowns but I loved the placement of these blooms and the fact that they were silk flowers! Something the bride can keep forever!
Joanna was also smitten with Claire's real life wedding day unicorn and Catherine's bridesmaids' beautiful hoop bouquets.
Claire - Editor
Claire's Pick: Real bride Niamh who learned the harmonica in just two weeks to surprise her new husband Alan on their wedding day - see their fun Dublin wedding by Paula Gillespie here.
Niamh was a cool bride for loads of reasons (read the story behind her vintage dress!) but the fact that she learned the harmonica just so she could join in with the folksy ceremony music and surprise Alan, isn't just a fun and thoughtful idea, it's so frickin' brave too!
Claire also loved Alex & Niamh's fun dancefloor signage and Meghan & Al's thoughtful Irish favours.
Tess - Office Administrator
Tess' Pick: Brett & Ray's very own pre-wedding petting zoo! See all of their fun, personalised wedding day by This Modern Love here.
After seeing how much fun Brett and Ray's day looked, I think every wedding needs a petting zoo and a pre-wedding water fight!
Tess also loved Ross & Zoe's unique hat dress code.
Celina - Staff Writer
Celina's Pick: Not just Orlaith & Barry's Rice Krispie castle wedding cake, but also the bridal designer bride's exhibition of family wedding dresses - see this beautiful - and unique - wedding by Tomasz Kornas here.
Ok, so very few couples will be able to pull this one off, but Orlaith and Barry's wedding dress hall of fame - a display of wedding dresses worn by the bride's mother and grandmother and the groom's mother, alongside pictures of each woman in her finery - was such a sweet nod to the past. I know if I had been a guest at this wedding, I would have been marvelling over them all night! I also loved their chocolate Rice Krispie castle cake - I'm sure that brought out the kid in everyone!"
Celina was also head over heels for Sandra & Sean's Balinese wedding pig and Kathryn's boho hoop bouquets.
