Today's real wedding is such a fun one! Lisa & Martin (aka Clarkey) are an adventurous and active couple, who planned their beautiful Cork wedding from their home in London. With the laid-back luxury of Ballyvolane House as their backdrop, the couple were able to keep things simple, with an emotional ceremony in the woods (featuring an impromptu tandem ride!) and a food-filled reception in the marquee - with lots of laughs in between. With a gorgeous lace gown for Lisa, a smart grey suit for her groom Martin, a gaggle of thrilled guests, and lots of pretty touches throughout, there was no shortage of special moments for Conor Brennan Photography to capture.
Lisa & Martin met in 2011 through their hockey club, “Having locked eyes on each other the previous year, we finally got together over a sambuca shot in a shoddy club call the Wessex House in Clapham, London!” I’d say there’s a shot or two of sambuca behind a lot of love stories! Lisa's mum handpicked all the flowers - aren't they beautiful!
Martin popped the question to Lisa in such a sweet way, while they were travelling in Argentina, “I carried a notebook with me that I often ‘doodled in’. One evening as we sat on our balcony over looking the lakes in Bariloche I came across a ‘new doodle & note’ written in Spanish. Recognising it was his writing and not mine I turned to ask Martin what it meant only to find him down on one knee!” Now that is one smooth proposal!
The couple describe the vibe of their Ballyvolane wedding as rustic and relaxed. Lisa & Martin chose Ballyvolane House for their wedding because of its stunning setting, “From the impressive house and shabby chic interiors to the leafy forest and rustic barn. Each location was a feature in its own right.” The couple chose a hand-tying ceremony for their vows in the woods.
The couple’s mates came up with a fun way to celebrate their favourite hobby, “The Tandem bike! Martin & I are big into cycling so a group of friends purchased an old tandem and did it up. It was present to us (as a complete surprise) just after were we announced as husband and wife. Needless to say we hopped straight on and cycled out of the forest into the drinks reception.” Arriving in style guys! This looks like so much fun! Hydrangea petal confetti - so pretty! Is that now the best wedding present ever! Ballyvolane had lots of secluded spots for their portrait session with Conor Brennan Photography. The couple decorated their tables with hydrangea centrepieces and mixed lanterns. The couple used homemade chutney used as escort cards which were then eaten with the cheese course that evening. After their gorgeous wedding, Lisa & Martin jetted off to Sicily for a well-deserved honeymoon.
Oh such a smile-filled day! Thanks so much to Lisa & Martin for sharing their sweet wedding day with us - and of course, Conor Brennan Photography for capturing it so beautifully!
