Sun, sand, music, an amazing silk wedding dress and so. much. fun. Kate and Cian's Ibiza wedding will almost have you convinced to abandon your own wedding plans and immediately book flights for a destination wedding . Seasoned Ibiza-goers, it made perfect sense for Kate and Cian to celebrate their incredibly chilled and outrageously fun wedding in their favourite place. The sun shone bright, the food and wine flowed freely and the entertainment options amazed. Irish photographer Katie Farrell joined them to capture each moment and Best Day Productions were on hand to video the atmosphere and second day boat party. I've never had so much wedding guest envy...
Like lots of Irish people Kate and Cian both emigrated to Australia, and it was there that they first met. Kate recounts their first meeting..."We happened to meet on my very first night in Australia. Jet Lagged and with no interest, I went to the hostel bar in Sydney with 2 Swedish people I just met. I quickly ditched them once I spotted a fellow Limerick person I knew, Paul. Paul was there with Cian who he introduced me to. There was terrible drunk dancing and chatting around a pool table in an Irish bar. A very awkward number exchange followed where Cian claimed he didn’t know his Australian number and couldn’t take mine as his phone was dead...but he’d get it off Paul...Yeah right I thought! But he did and the next day I got the call for a real date and the rest as they say is history!"
To propose Cian surprised a (totally) unsuspecting Kate in her parent's home on Christmas morning. Kate sets the scene..."Cian decided to come over and kick the parents out at like 8am in the cold and ice and said to them he wanted to cook me a nice breakfast...I’d say they were like are you for real..it’s Christmas morning? My phone kept buzzing with missed calls from Cian. Being the usual great morning person I am I just kept cutting him off...Eventually I saw a text saying “see what Santa left under the tree”. As soon as I opened the bedroom door a rose petal path led me to the Christmas tree where Cian was kneeling…(who knows for how long?)..I said yes…and, then, he cooked a nice breakfast!"
For their (amazing) wedding Kate and Cian decided there was no better place to celebrate other than their favourite place in the world - Ibiza.
Ten years previously, Kate's sister had previously tied the knot on the island, so in keeping with tradition Kate and Cian decided to use the exact same church.
Sweetly, Kate's sisters daughters took part in the wedding - acting as flower girl and reciting wedding readings. Such a gorgeous sentimental touch!
The rest of the wedding was kept much more Ibiza wedding than "Irish wedding in Ibiza", with typical Mediterranean food, party music and entertainment to set the tone.
To keep cool and stylish throughout the wedding Kate chose a stunning silk Johanna Johnson wedding dress, perfect for dancing the night away in.
Adore Kate's simple LK Bennett wedding shoes...
To capture their Ibiza wedding Kate and Cian chose Irish photographer Katie Farrell, who stayed with them throughout the day recording each sun drenched moment for Kate, Cian and family to remember forever.
The following day Kate and Cian kept the party going with an epic boat trip for them and all of their guests. "We did a boat trip the next day. We felt we could really really let loose then and our wonderful photographer and videographer really captured that day amazingly well too."
After their guests had left for Irish shores, Kate and Cian stayed on celebrating being newly-weds by partying away at the opening parties (how cool!?). Huge congratulations to you both, and thanks so much for sharing your utterly gorgeous Ibiza wedding with us all.
A huge thank you also goes to the extremely talented Katie Farrell for sharing her work with us, to see more from Katie Farrell visit www.katiefarrellphotography.com and if you loved this wedding be sure to take a peek at Kate and Cian's incredibly fun wedding video below, filmed by Best Day Productions.
