At a time when the news can often bring increased worry and even more disrupted plans, making sure we have a distraction can sometimes be the best cure. Well, one great place we always find solace is on our TV screens. Luckily for us, we're entering that time of year when the TV listings and streaming services really go all-out to keep everyone entertained. As a result, there's a pretty cracking list of TV and films being released over the next few weeks.

From nostalgic teen dramas to the eagerly anticipated return of award-winning series, there is plenty to keep us entertained this November and something for every taste too.

Must-See TV Coming in November

1.  The Crown

Where: Season 4 lands on Netflix on November 15

Why: In what is one of the most eagerly anticipated releases of the year, The Crown finally returns to our screens this month and with it, introduces fans to both Lady Diana Spencer and the new Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Season 4 will chronicle right up to the late 1970s, one of the most turbulent periods of Queen Elizabeth's reign. Naturally, the premiere of Elizabeth Debicki as the future Princess of Wales has received much attention, but Gillian Anderson's portrayal as The Iron Lady is sure to wow longtime fans of the show.

2. I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

Where: ITV2 and Virgin Media One

Why: It's that time of year again! Marking the official start of the festive season is a new and - hopefully - improved I'm A Celeb which for the first time in its 20-season history will not take place in Australia. Yes, this year's season will move to Wales to adhere to Covid-19 restrictions but everything else will be as we know and love; lots of brutal challenges for contestants, a celeb-filled line-up ready to win us over, and the lovable comedy of Ant and Dec - gold!

3. Dawson's Creek

Where: Netflix (seasons 1 - 6)

Why: Raise your hands if you're already singing the theme tune? Not just us - great! Dawson's Creek might not have brought in ground-breaking viewership during its five-year run on the WB (now The CW) but it has gained cult status in the years since. Shooting stars like Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson to worldwide fame, it will forever hold a loving place in our hearts. The only question is, were you Team Dawson or Team Pacey?

4. The Undoing

Where: Sky Atlantic

Why: The HBO drama that has gotten many Big Little Lies fans excited has finally landed on Sky Atlantic and it is the thrilling 'who done it?' we so desperately need. The Undoing sees Nicole Kidman in the role of Grace Fraser, a wealthy therapist in New York, who lives with her husband Jonathan (played by Hugh Grant), an oncologist, and their son Henry. Grace encounters another mother at her son's school who seems to have some secrets and encourages suspicions to grow in Grace. When that mother is murdered, Grace's life quickly unravels as she works to find out the truth about what happened. Need more convincing? The trailer below is likely to twist your arm.

5. The Mandalorian

Where: Disney+

Why: With the second season just landed on Disney+, Star Wars fans have been happily satiated with entertainment already this November. And there's more good news - work on the third season has already begun. Yes, The Mandalorian is set in a world five years after the one we left in Return of the Jedi and follows a bounty hunter in the outer reaches of the galaxy looking for 'The Child'.

6. Virgin River

Where: Season 2 lands on Netflix on November 27

Why: A huge favourite with the OFD team last year (not so guilty pleasure!), Virgin River tells the painfully overtold story of one woman's escape from the big city after tragedy strikes. Moving into the run-down old cabin in the woods (yep, really!), she tries to hide from her new community only to get dragged into their loving web and, eventually, a love triangle. It's eye-rollingly cliché and for that reason, it's the best fluff TV you could ask for this November.

7. Call The Midwife

Where: BBC Player (seasons 1 - 9) and Netflix (seasons 1 - 8)

Why: The show that continues to earn huge praise some eight years after it first aired on the BBC. Call The Midwife follows the story of a newly qualified midwife as she goes to work in an area in East London. Set in the 1950s and into the 1960s, the team of midwives works to help with many issues facing the community all the while focusing on their role of helping bring the 80 to 100 babies born in the area each year into the world.

8. Get Organised with The Home Edit

Where: Netflix

Why: If there's one thing that always bring calm and happiness into my life it's a good home makeover. Yes, from DIY hacks to organisational tips and tricks, it's a YouTube rabbit hole I delight in going down on the regular. Well, enter Get Organised with The Home Edit which is the ultimate 'get your home - and therefore life - together' binge. Expert home organisers - yep, that's their job titles - Clea and Joanna role into peoples' homes like tornados and mess everything up before arranging it all in perfectly colour-coordinated bins, each with their own labeling system. This will either be the most painful thing you've ever sat through or your new TV treat to yourself.

The Best MOVIES to Get You Through November Lockdown

9. The Trial of the Chicago 7

Where: Netflix

Why: In the first few months of President Nixon's first term in the White House, a group of anti-Vietnam war protestors and civil rights activists find themselves a part of the most talked-about trial of the year. Based on the story of the Chicago Seven, a group of eight defendants charged with conspiracy, inciting to riot, and other charges related to protests that took place in Chicago during the 1968 Democratic National Convention. The cast list is the who's who of Hollywood with the likes of Joseph Gordon Levitt, Sacha Baron Cohen, Eddie Redmayne, Mark Rylance, Michael Keaton, and Frank Langella all lending their exceptional talents to this much-praised film from Aaron Sorkin.

10. David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet

Where: Netflix

Why: If there is one thing that is good for the soul, it's David Attenborough. The broadcaster calls this his 'witness statement and hope for the future' as he documents the huge impact humanity has had on nature, the negative effects of that, and what we can all do to save our planet.

11. Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey

Where: Netflix from November 13

Why: Yes, it's that time of year when we start to see the release of this year's Christmas films. This is the ultimate story of family, all wrapped in a gloriously festive and fun bow. Forest Whitaker plays a toymaker who works with his granddaughter to create a magical invention which, if they can get it to work in time for the holidays, could change their lives forever.

12. Bombshell

Where: Amazon Prime from November 26

Why: Bombshell tells the story of women working at Fox News who worked to expose then-CEO Roger Ailes for sexual harassment. Charlize Theron and Nicole Kidman play two of the more vocal accusers, Megyn Kelly and Gretchen Carlson, while Margot Robbie plays a young staffer who gets a glimpse of Ailes' harassment first hand. The movie earned three Oscar nominations; a Best Actress nomination for Theron, a Best Supporting Actress nomination for Robbie, and eventually winning the award for Best Hair and Makeup.

13. The Princess Switch: Switched Again

Where: Netflix from November 19

Why: If you thought the premise of the original Princess Switch was predictable wait till you hear what the sequel - Switched Again - is about. The follow-up film will see a third lookalike enter the ring to ruin things just as Lady Margaret inherits the throne of Belgravia and I'll be first in line to hit play.

14. The Christmas Chronicles: Part 2

Where: Netflix from November 25

Why: In what was one of the better Christmas releases from Netflix in recent years, The Christmas Chronicles is back with a sequel giving viewers exactly what they've been crying out for, ever since the original premiered - more Goldie Hawn! Yes, Kurt Russell returns to his role as Santa Claus while Hawn will finally get the airtime she deserves as Mrs. Claus in what is sure to be an equally rewarding follow-up to the 2018 hit.
