Both Jess and Jeff have a passion for travel and adventure, so thought it fitting to incorporate this into their stunning Autumn barn wedding. Eager to incorporate their passion, but not go OTT Jess and Jeff added subtle hints including vintage globes, worn leather cases for flowers to rest on and old school map for table numbers and names. The perfect example of how to theme a real wedding with style, all captured by Lauren Fair Photography to inspire all of you in the midst of planning.
Jess and Jeff met at work, they dated (very) briefly in the summer of 2010 but then went their separate ways for almost a year. The following year Jeff surprised Jess by asking her out on a second first date, and they've been together since.
Two more years later and Jeff proposed in Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia. A surprised Jess said yes and the pair spent the night celebrating in the city.
To celebrate their love Jess and Jeff wanted to throw a big party at a venue that wasn't your standard wedding venue. Once they came across The Farm at Eagle's Ridge, they knew it was the one for them. They explain:Â "We went to visit and booked it right away. The family that owns the farm, the Herr family, was beyond helpful and caring. There were so many things that we loved about the venue: the lake, the farm house (where we got ready for the day), the barn, the corn crib, the open fields! The list goes on and on!"
Before their outdoor ceremony overlooking the lake, Jess and Jeff had a tearful first look, which ended up being one of their favourite moments of the day. Jess tells us: "One of the most special parts of the day was our first look. Jeff was actually against it at first, but once I told him that we would be able to mingle with our guests at the cocktail hour and enjoy the hors d’oeuvres (that he put a lot of thought into choosing during our catering tasting), he was in! The feeling that we had when we saw each other for the first time that day is a feeling that I will cherish forever."
  Â
Following their first look Jess and Jeff joined their groomsman and bridesmaid for some sun soaked shots with Lauren Fair Photography. Jess gushes about their photographer of choice, and it's so easy to see why! "We cannot thank Lauren Fair Photography enough for capturing our wedding day! We are so lucky that we got the chance to work with them, but also get to know them. They are two of the most genuinely nice people we have ever met. They made us feel so comfortable that day, it was like we were hanging out with our friends. Thank you will never be enough for what they have given us in these photographs of our wedding day."
    Â
Above everything good quality suppliers were of huge importance to Jess and Jeff, and helped make the day nice and relaxed and stress free. Jess explains..."Our number one priority besides booking the venue, was finding vendors that we trusted to bring our ideas to life. All of our vendors got along like one big family and we felt like we were collaborating with friends to throw the most epic party! Jeff and I feel so lucky that we were able to work with the most amazing group of people who truly provided us with the best day ever."
To keep a coherent vibe throughout the day Jeff and Jess chose a rich wedding colour palette of brick red, navy blue, marigold yellow, and light grey, which was beautifully incorporated into the linens and lush bouquets.
    Â
A rich hue of navy was also chosen for Jess's bridesmaid, which perfectly matches Jess's pretty bouquet ribbon.
For their lakeside ceremony Jess and Jeff incorporated a subtle travel theme, using vintage luggage and globes and lots more beautiful flowers.
 Â
Jess's own classic wedding dress is a Watters design, which she accessorised with a full length veil and simple upstyle.
Â
For their reception Jess and Jeff retreated to the barn, where there was lots more travel inspired decorations and some crafty wedding favours. Â She explains,"We bought boxes, compass charms, and vintage stamps from Etsy sellers: Ashley Caitlin Crafts, Trinket Girl, and Law Student Crafts; and then we filled them graham crackers, a marshmallow, and chocolate for our guests to roast s'mores at the bonfire outside of the barn."
Jess and Jeff also DIYed their escort cards and cake topper, to really ensure their wedding felt truly reflective of them.
Â
Advice wise Jess and Jeff are again all about the professionals, they advise: "Leading up to the wedding all of the little details can drive you mad, but just remember that this day is for the both of you, and are going to be surrounded by friends and family that love you dearly. If you are able to, hiring a wedding coordinator was one of the best decisions we made. She handled all of the day of details, which allowed us to truly be present and appreciate everything going on around us."
For their honeymoon Jess and Jeff made their travel theme a reality. Jess describes the trip..."We had the most amazing honeymoon in Chile! We stayed in Santiago for a few nights and then flew to the southern tip of Chile and hiked through Torres del Paine and explored the land and enjoyed Chilean cuisine. It was a once in a lifetime trip; a grand adventure."
