If you're thinking of freshening up your fair locks or indeed going for a total colour transformation, then you've come to the right place for shade-spiration. Dubbed 'The Hairvoyant' by Harper's Bazaar and Glamour have for his knack for naming trends, hair stylist Tom Smith has revealed his top blonde shade prediction to One Fab Day.
'Botticelli Curls', 'Expensive Brunette' and 'Cowgirl Copper' are all trends the London stylist has predicted in recent years, so we had to tap him for what's hot for blondes this year. Tom studies fashion catwalks and celebrity trends from red carpets, magazines and social media to see which way the dial is moving - are we embracing bobs again? (We are!) Or are we thinking of getting Balayage? (Not so much!) Let's just say his finger is on the pulse of colour and cut trends every season. So read on for the reveal...
Top Blonde Shade Of 2024
Tom tells us that the top blonde of 2024 is refreshing and cool, and is what he calls 'Crystal Clear'. Need convincing? Two trendsetting celebrities have been wearing it for a while now. If you've been following Beyoncé and her cowgirl transformation for her new county music era, you can't have missed how blonde the Halo singer has turned. Tom also cites actress Florence Pugh as another recent inspiration.
He explains that Crystal Clear - top blonde shade of 2024 - is a great choice as a way of creating a focus on facial features simply by creating clean and clear tones around the face. He says: "Not quite gold, not quite silver, but Crystal Clear boasts all the clarity of crystal with a neutral creamy tone. Ideal for those willing for the maintenance of all-over platinum blonde, or for those with naturally white or pale grey hair. This tone being paler than most skin tones will provide definition and focus on the facial features and can define the eyes, brows and lips.'
What to Ask For
A thorough consultation with your hair stylist is recommended if you're considering trying the top blonde shade of 2024 for your big day, and Tom explains what to ask for. "The success of this shade is almost entirely down to the ‘lightening’ stage of your salon visit. Your colourist must lift your hair brightly and cleanly, and tone the hair minimally to achieve this creamy crystal-finished result."
How to Keep Crystal Clear Blonde Fresh & Clean
As for at-home maintenance, caring for your new Crystal Clear blonde might include new haircare. Tom says: 'While purple shampoo will be required for successful home use, be sure to only use it from time to time. In the case where there is a risk of toning too much, use it as your first shampoo in a dual shampoo process to ensure any excess is removed with the second wash."
Weekly Cleansing
With brighter blonde hair you will need a purple shampoo to keep it looking fresh, not brassy. Purple pigments neutralise minerals and hard water elements picked up during washing. Tom recommends using it every seven to 10 days as your first shampoo in a double wash. Leave on for the time instructed and rinse.

Weekly Treat
Brighter blonde hair can have more damage through the ends and once a week it's a good idea to replenish those strands with a hair mask.
