It's about to get emotional around here. Today's real wedding stars Keith & Graeme, two gorgeous grooms who treated their friends and family to a colourful wedding celebration at Tinakilly Country House Hotel. With ribbons, flags, confetti balloons and bright flowers and stationery, this loved-up pair set the tone for their personalised ceremony and relaxed reception. Birds of a Feather captured not just the photos, but the wedding film too - so make sure you scroll to the end to hit play, because these are some of the most sweet, sincere and tear-jerking speeches I've heard in a long time!
Keith tells us how he and Graeme first met back in 2010 at the Dragon on George’s Street (now known as Nolita), “Graeme was the only guy wearing a Leinster rugby jersey and this caught my eye! We have barely spent a day apart since. We returned to where we first met and had some food and drink there on the second night of our wedding celebrations which was perfect.”
Keith & Graeme came to a joint decision that it was time to tie the knot, “We were out for dinner on our seven-year anniversary and after recently buying our first home we mutually decided over Irish coffees that we wanted to take the natural next step in our relationship. We really wanted to make it official (because it was now legal to do so) and we wanted a celebration of the same!”
The couple wanted their wedding to be a laid-back and colourful celebration, “The intention was for it to be a relaxed, fun and positive celebration of our present life together and our future life together. The vibe was springtime colourful and even though the venue was vintage Victorian we added some modern and geometric twists.”
I just love these bright buttonholes by Fleur Weddings!
Keith & Graeme knew what was most important to them when they were planning their wedding, “We wanted the day to be a big celebration for all our family and friends. We were so happy to have the opportunity to get married and we really wanted to share the one occasion we would have them all in one place. We wanted to create some magical memories.”
The grooms recited their vows together - such a nice touch!
The couple tell us about some of the people who helped make their day even more special, “Simone Walsh, our civil celebrant gave us free reign to personalise our ceremony while providing a guiding hand. We loved the ceremony from start to finish. The girls from Birds of a Feather were super prior to the big day and were lovely to have around when we were getting ready before the ceremony. Our friend Aoife us a wonderful harpist and wrote a special piece for the day called ‘Dílseacht’ and she played it at the ceremony. It was perfect.”
Graeme & Keith have a simple nugget of advice for other couples planning a wedding, “Don’t sweat the small stuff…easier said than done!”
For Keith & Graeme, their main priority in their venue search was finding a place they loved and felt comfortable with, “We also wanted to have a venue that hadn’t been used by any of our friends or family. However, when we met with Michael in Tinakilly and he showed us around we loved it immediately.”
Even the dessert table kept the colourful vibes going with this gorgeous macaroon wedding cake.
Birds of a Feather looked after the watercolour stationery throughout the wedding too.
The couple have yet to plan their big post-wedding trip, but they did enjoy some time out together after the wedding, “We treated ourselves to a night in the Merrion Hotel the night after the wedding with a short mini-moon to Barcelona. We hope to go somewhere further afield next year – the list of potential destinations is lengthy however and we can’t make up our minds!” We feel your pain!
