When you look back on your wedding photos in your 60s and 70s, (possibly via a device that projects them directly onto your retina!) it's only natural that some of your choices will feel hopelessly dated, but the couples in today's real weddings were all about embracing timeless style! By sticking to a fuss-free, elegant look, the brides and grooms in this week's Saturday Selection have ensured that their wedding snaps will always look great on their wall (and that no-one will ever be able to guess their ages!)
Riverside Glam: Emma & Barry
This loved-up pair met in Australia but travelled home to Ireland to say "I do" among friends and family. Emma and Barry's glorious riverside bash started with a ceremony at the historic Ballintubber Abbey in Co. Mayo before the whole crew headed to the Ice House Hotel on the banks of the River Moy for drinks and dancing, captured by Susie Kelly Photography. Although Emma and Barry were thrilled to be exchanging vows at home, they made a subtle nod to their country of residence by naming their tables after Australian suburbs. And how gorgeous is the dining space at the Ice House? So bright and airy!
Love on the 9th Green: Melissa & Seamus
Here's another couple who couldn't resist the romance of the Irish countryside! Irish groom Seamus met Australian bride Melissa in the land down under, where they're now settled with their two children, but they set their hearts on celebrating their big day in Kilmore Quay in Co. Wexford. Mrs. Redhead Photography was there to catch every major moment, from the wedding-morning excitement (how cute are those flower girls?) to a post-ceremony spin around the golf course! Oh, we do love a yellow bridesmaid!
LOLs and Lavender: Saibh & Enda
The simply stunning Rathsallagh House in Co. Wicklow was the venue for Saibh and Enda's stylish, grown-up celebration, which is captured above by Bruno Rosa Photography. We're not sure which we love more - Saibh's chic, cap-sleeved Sharon Hoey gown, those super sweet lavender bouquets by Florabunda or the co-ordinating blush pink bridesmaids dresses, which the bridesmaids chose themselves (as a one-time wearer of mandarin orange satin, I highly appreciate this approach!) You can see more snaps from their big day on Bruno's blog here.
A Thoroughly Scottish Wedding in Dublin: Aoife & Richard
It's not often that there's blazing sun at an Irish wedding, but Irish bride Aoife and Scottish groom Richard got lucky with their Dublin city bash last summer, which comes to us courtesy of Keith Gordon Photography. This couple filled their day with visits to longtime Dublin icons, starting with a pre-ceremony pint in The International Bar and holding their drinks reception in The Stags Head before moving onto Fallon and Byrne for dinner and dancing. As you can imagine, Richard's kilt attracted quite a bit of attention as they strolled around the city!
