Sarah tells us that she and Stephen met through work. "We met 11 years ago working in Debenhams. We worked together for a couple of months before we realised we had more to say to each other than we could fit in an 8 hour shift!"

Stephen proposed at Sarah’s 30th birthday party in Whelans, which quickly turned into an engagement party! Stephen felt there was no better place given it is Sarah’s favourite pub and all their friends and family would be there. Sounds perfect!

The couple tell us that their top priorities for the big day were, "Definitely the food and music. One visit to the Marker and we knew the food would be taken care of – we didn’t have to worry!"

Sarah stunned in a strapless dress with an off-the-shoulder lace topper from Myrtle Ivory. Her bridesmaids rocked perfectly mis-matched dresses from Beau Bride and Folkster, while the guys looked rather dapper in suits from Louis Copeland & Sons.

After exchanging vows at City Hall ceremony, the couple and their guests embarked on a fun tour bus around Dublin! The couple fill us in, "We had a tour of Dublin after the ceremony which had the history of Dublin as well as our history in Dublin. On the bus, we made goodie bags for every guest with water and personalised M&Ms. Writing the script for the tour bus was so easy – we seem to have most of our milestone moments in a 3 kilometre radius!"

Sarah and Stephen advice for engaged couples is to plan a wedding you'd want to attend and we can't argue with that! "It is so hard to give advice as everyone has a different plan – big or small, home or away – but what made our day so memorable, as cheesy as it sounds, is that we planned a wedding that we wanted to go to, which naturally meant we had a great time!! We laughed, danced and ate which was everything we love about going to weddings, so while we tried to think of everyone, you can’t go wrong with planning something you would want to attend!" Here, here!

The couple got married on International Star Wars Day (May 4th) which meant they could have a little fun with it and have a couple of nods to the day that was in it. They named a gin based cocktail at the drinks reception “Qui Gon Gin” and they walked into the dining room to the Star Wars theme tune. "The best man did joke about getting a storm trooper suit but that felt like a step too far even for us!"

Reflecting on the day, the couple agree there are these are some of their stand-out moments (although of course, it’s hard for them to narrow it down!). "We had lots of personal touches from our readings and music choices, to M&Ms with our faces on them(!), to a bus tour of Dublin after the ceremony which included Dublin’s history and a little bit of our history too."

Sarah and Stephen chose lots of fantastic musicians to perform throughout their day which added some extra special moments for them as they explain,"One of our highlights of the day was during the reception on the rooftop with the sun shining and Manila Strings playing. They came over to us and started playing Bohemian Rhapsody. Before we knew it everyone was joining in and it was such a fun moment. Everyone we loved, screaming out the lyrics on a rooftop in Dublin, with the sun shining and a drink in hand – I think it was that moment that made us realise it was all going to plan!"

The couple tell us they had their heart set on an a city wedding at The Marker from the moment they got engaged. "We got engaged on a Saturday and by the following Friday, we were in speaking with the team in the Marker – we both had it in our head so we didn’t waste much time getting in to find out the details. From our first meeting with them, we knew there was no where else for us. The team there are truly incredible. They are perfectionists but relaxed, they are have every detail covered but don’t overcomplicate things and anyone we met really cared about their role in our day – we cannot recommend or thank them enough for everything they did to make our day so amazing!"

After the wedding, Sarah and Stephen went on honeymoon to Sorrento for a week which they'd highly recommend. "It was amazing and a great place to make sure the wedding dress will never fit again (pizza and wine galore!!!). It is a great place to relax, which is what we needed after the wedding. We went out on a boat to watch the sunset, explored the surrounding towns but mostly had time to debrief after all the excitement."
