There's something magical about Spring - it's almost a miracle how every year we witness the rejuvenation of nature, the springing forth of buds and blooms in anticipation of a bright new year. It's no wonder that it's such a popular time to tie the knot - from early April the aisles are positively singing to the steps of brides and grooms. Today we're delighted to bring you a beautiful piece of inspirational editorial designed by stylist Grace & Saviour together with a great team of amazing wedding creatives from Northern Ireland and captured by photographer Jonathan Ryder. This Kiss of Spring shoot showcases the wonder of the season, the magic of a spring colour palette and what wonders can be created with a little thought and love...
From the gowns to the gorgeous stationery, these creatives have outdone themselves..
A common problem for brides (and some grooms) is curating all the different element and choices into one cohesive look - having so many options makes the decision making process extremely overwhelming. The key to creating a "look" is having a central idea or theme to work on that influences each decision. Being a pro, Grace & Saviour are well versed on how to create a look so to help Grace explained the core idea behind this shoot "The inspiration for our shoot comes from the time of year. We wanted to capture that gentle, quieter time of early spring where there is the promise of summer, but everything is just awakening under the glisten of a soft, ethereal light – with a very different and gentler colour palette - to inspire brides with ideas of the potential in this little season, before the heat and brightness of full summer.
Spring... is a romantic period when we are all coming out of the hibernation of winter into the lightness and beauty of spring, towards the New Year ahead. It is a time where we still find ourselves enjoying the last embrace of winter, tucked away together with great food, family and some warm drinks, while outside the lightness and beauty of spring, and all the blossoming flowers and colours it brings, are unfolding."
This awareness of the in-between nature of the season, when the blossoms are appearing, but the weather outside hasn't quite warmed up yet, forms the basis of this spring wedding shoot - Grace artfully connects the changes outside with the wedding through the use of pale colours, beautiful blossoms and light fabrics, but remembering to keep the atmosphere inside warm and cosy.
Light and bright, yet cosy and comfortable - sounds like that's the balance all Spring weddings should have.
And what could be more inviting and cosy than this spring wedding table?
Full of delicious delight as the new season brings new bounty to the table.
Perfect posh nosh to spoil your guests, and something special to wash it down with.
Huge thanks to Grace, Jonathan and all the talented wedding pros involved in bringing this gorgeous shoot to life - I hope it inspires you ladies (and gentlemen) and you all know who to call now to make some wedding magic happen (just check the credits below)
I'm going to leave you with the lines that inspired this shoot, from "When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom’d" by Walt Whitman -
"In the dooryard fronting an old farm-house near the white-wash’d palings,
Stands the lilac-bush tall-growing with heart-shaped leaves of rich green,
With many a pointed blossom rising delicate, with the perfume strong I love,
With every leaf a miracle—and from this bush in the dooryard,
With delicate-color’d blossoms and heart-shaped leaves of rich green,
A sprig with its flower I break."
