The Vibe at The Abbey
It's hard to describe the unique charms of The Abbey in words, you really have to see this venue in the flesh to believe it! Elegantly perched in a dreamy countryside setting, it's the kind of place your guests will be raving about for years to come. From the moment you step out of the car, and take in the private, landscaped gardens and renovated period buildings, you know you’re somewhere special. Walking into any of the reception rooms at The Abbey instantly makes you feel at ease, thanks to the thoughtful blend of period architecture and more modern, Instagrammable design. And, as you stroll along the handsome stone paths that connect the sophisticated reception rooms to the ancient chapel, you might just find yourself gasping out loud - we know we were!
The Space at The Abbey
The Abbey is home to some truly magical spaces that are just made for celebrating in;
- We love the renovated 18th century chapel, which makes for a truly unique ceremony space. Respectfully mixing original detailing with modern decor, this grand and graceful room, with a capacity of up to 200, creates an idyllic backdrop for your vows. The space is flooded with natural light, which comes beaming through the original, stained-glass windows that line the walls, and the handcrafted, vaulted wood ceiling is something to marvel at. The fact that you're mere steps away from luxurious reception rooms, and pretty outdoor courtyards, makes it all the most special!
- The Abbey has some eclectic and elegant spaces to choose from for drinks receptions, too. If the weather is fine, you simply have to begin your evening with drinks outside on the courtyard. Boasting pretty green scenery, a bronze gazebo and period features, this lovingly-landscaped space is the ideal spot in which to toast your marriage with friends and family. It also provides a beautiful backdrop for wedding portraits.
- If you’re not so lucky with the weather, you and your guests can kick off celebrations in The Abbey's refined and modern indoor reception spaces. The Garden Parlour is a particularly sumptuous space for pre-dinner drinks. A luxurious yet inviting room with décor inspired by world travel, and a love for stylish eccentricity. There are cosy spots for you and your loved ones to sink into, all the while enjoying views of the courtyard and drinks from the hidden mini bar.
- If you want to wow your guests with some evening entertainment during your wedding weekend, you'll love how the chapel can be transformed. As the sun goes down, this unique space becomes a private live music stage and dance floor, complete with your very own secret bar! Your guests will delight at discovering the vintage-style Chapel Bar, where they can take their pick from a wide range of expertly crafted drinks, or the perfect pint of Guinness.
- The culmination of your wedding event at The Abbey will take place in the grand ballroom. It's a beautifully appointed, open-plan space that offers the most decadent of settings and plenty of room to celebrate in! Boasting a capacity of up to 250 guests, the ballroom's décor is in keeping with the relaxed luxury found elsewhere in the venue, but with added touches of grandeur that set this room apart, including antique flooring. Cut-glass chandeliers hang gracefully above the reception space, and the elegant, sweeping bar commands the room.
- More intimate receptions can be hosted in the aforementioned chapel, a wholly individual place to dine and dance, with the added excitement of having its own hidden bar!
