It's Autumn alright but we're looking forward to Spring already with today's beautiful and sophisticated celebration in Tankardstown. It's the wedding of Adele and Ian captured by Christina Brosnan (assisted by Ivana Patarčić). Combining past, present and future, Adele and Ian made their celebration their own, with a first look and heirloom wedding rings, we love this wedding for being the heartfelt and true representation of a couple in love.

But where did it all start? "We first met in 2006 at mutual friend's wedding — we are both from the same area but had never met before. We bumped into each other a few weeks later on a night out and the rest is history!" Skip on five years and 2000 miles and something special was about to happen... "We were in Moscow on holidays last year — on our last day we were just outside St Basil’s church and Ian handed me a tiny Russian Matryoshka doll — inside which he had hidden my engagement ring."

Talk about shoe envy! Adele paired her beautiful silk Jason Wu short wedding gown with a pair of lovely black lace Christian Louboutin platform pumps. These babies will be bound to get a lot of wear - so the investment is justified.  And as for this dress...

Woohoo! Ashort wedding dress! Adele found her Jason Wu wedding dress on net-a-porter, see all those references finally make sense! We love net-a-porter for a stylish alternative to the traditional dress. Adele's dress channels an Audrey Hepburn vibe with it's bell skirt and boatneck. Uber-sophisticated and looks so comfortable.

When it came to the wedding planning they were very clear on the kind of celebration they wanted..."More than anything we wanted a laid-back day for us and our friends and family to enjoy — we actually made a 3 day event of the wedding with our immediate families staying in Tankardstown the night before & the night after the wedding so it felt a little bit like we were away on holidays. It also meant that the morning of the wedding was stress free. We all had a very relaxing breakfast together, everyone was on site and all the hair/makeup/barbers/flowers — everything came to us so there was no running around. All we had to do was sit back and sip champagne!"

Given that Adele and Ian were staying over the night before in Tankardstown they opted to take the non-traditional approach to the wedding prep, waking up together and having breakfast and then preparing themselves for a "first look" before the ceremony. We did this at our wedding and I personally highly recommend it. Seeing your husband or wife-to-be before the ceremony is a really special and private moment, and goes a long way to calming the nerves...

It also makes for some lovely photographs... how amazing is the cherry blossom?

We had heard about Tankardstown and it just seemed to tick all of the boxes — we wanted an intimate venue with a relaxed feel where we could hold both the ceremony and the reception. The food was also important as we wanted to treat our guests and we really were blow away by the quality, service and attention to detail that Tankardstown offered.

Adele and Ian both unfortunately lost their fathers in recent years, so in a lovely they used their father's wedding rings as their own, having had them resized by a local jeweller Aidan Brennan.

Time for the congratulations...

And the admiration of the stylish bride...

And before the party started in earnest (did I hear it lasted til 5am? yes, yes I did!) the happy couple spent some time larking around together... The great thing about having a first look is that it minimises the time spent on photography between ceremony and reception and means you can really enjoy your time with friends and family...

So what advice would Adele and Ian give to brides and grooms planning their day? "Firstly, Delegate, delegate, delegate! It’s a great way to get everyone involved in the day and most people love to have a part to play. Secondly, trust the professionals and let them do their job — that’s why you are hiring them! Finally — relax and enjoy every single minute."
