We are continually bowled over by all the love stories from our 2020 and 2021 couples, couples who defied all odds to marry in spite of Covid-19 and all the uncertainty it brought with it. Today's Sunday Selection takes us behind the scenes of four such inspiring weddings, which all took place during the pandemic, proving that, although tricky to coordinate, Covid Weddings are incredibly special. We've got two gorgeous weddings in Dublin City, a beaut of a forest wedding from the USA, and a mini boho bash in Northern Ireland. We can't wait for you to see these beautiful minimonies, so let's take a closer look, shall we!?
Sparkles in The City: Jess & John
Like so many other couples organising a wedding over the past year, Jess and John had to get creative. After having to reschedule their big day, the couple went ahead with a part-one wedding ceremony and tied the knot at Dublin Registry Office with their two best friends as witnesses and some immediate family present outside on Zoom! After the ceremony, the couple and their photographers Wonder & Magic took a stroll around the city for their portraits, before heading back to their own home sweet home for food and plenty of bubbles! They have another date booked for later this year, when they hope to celebrate with their nearest and dearest. As you all know, we’re major sparkle fans here at One Fab Day, so you can imagine our collective gasp of delight when we spotted Jess's wildly fabulous gold sequin wedding dress! We love how she paired it with a cheerful bouquet of yellow (the bride's favourite colour) Mimosa. You can check out more from Wonder & Magic here.
A Mini Boho Bash in Co. Down: Stuart & Gemma
Despite a change in their wedding plans, Stuart and Gemma were still able to pull off a romantic and intimate celebration with their nearest and dearest (and their fur babies too!). Their wedding was filled with so much love and beautiful boho touches, from Gemma’s gorgeous gown to the stunning dried flowers and rustic details proudly displayed at their venue – Kiltonga Hall in Newtownards, Co. Down. Because of Covid, the couple were not able to celebrate as originally planned, but they still marked the occasion with some beautiful portraits, a first dance and some bubbly surrounded by their petite guest list. There to capture all the joy and beautiful details was photographer Conor Hammond from Hammond Photography, whose fab work you can check out here.
Natural Nuptials in California: Melissa & Daniel
Picture this… Birdsong in your ears, the breeze blowing gently through your hair, warm sun kissing your face, the smell of earth and grass and flowers all around you. Many couples dream of sharing their wedding day with their nearest and dearest in a natural setting, and that's exactly what Melissa and Daniel did after the pandemic left them without a venue. The pair were forced to change their wedding plans - but they were lucky enough to find a stunning outdoor venue nestled in the redwoods in Fairfax, north of San Francisco, to safely host their micro wedding during last Autumn. Since they are both obsessed with music, they included a disco ball in their fun portraits by Emily Jenks Photography! You can see more of Emily's work here.
A Whole Lotta Love in Dublin's Fair City: Hilary & Daniel
Hilary & Daniel must be one of the few couples that increased their invite list in the weeks before their wedding, changing from a planned elopement to a gorgeous and intimate family affair! The couple started their day getting ready in The Shelbourne, before saying 'I do' The Royal Hotel in Bray, followed by a fun picnic on the promenade. Next up was a sunny stroll through Dublin City, where they toured the sites of first dates, held their own mini trad music session (sure why not?!) and visited other special places along the way with Volks Weddings. The couple were obviously super relaxed and comfortable to share tales with their touring companion, Stephen O'Sullivan Photography, who was on hand to capture all the magic. You can check out more photography from their day on Stephen's blog.
