So it's nearly the weekend (again) and time for the weekly mixed bag of wedding stuff we've found and fallen in love with. As always it's a little bit random, from old-school fortune teller placecards and menus, to the yummy wares of the Cake Cafe and my favourite flowers - Peonies.
Do you remember as a kid making these little origami fortune tellers?
Sue stumbled upon Kat's Krafts on Etsy, making the cutest versions for the tables at your wedding. These can double as placecards (names on the outside) and menus (written on the inside). Alternatively they could have games in them, or the programme for the ceremony - ideas are limitless.
I think this is just such a clever idea - they're inexpensive, pretty and interesting, giving guests something to play with and talk about. You could try making them yourself, but unless you're a photoshop genius I think it could be pretty tricky, so spending $40 with Kat seems like a pretty good deal to me.
The Cake Cafe on Pleasants Place in Dublin 2 is one of Dublin's real hidden gems. And when I say hidden, I mean hidden. Tucked in behind Daintree, it nestles in a little courtyard, making it the perfect place to escape from it all with a glass of prosecco and a delicious little cupcake (their suggestion, not mine).
And if you're getting married they have a lovely selection of yummy treats you could incorporate into the day - as well as creating bespoke wedding cakes, or wedding cupcake extravaganzas, they can make miniature cakes and cookies to give as wedding favours. These can be personalised according to your taste, wrapped up and be-ribboned (is that a word?). Definitely worth popping in on a research mission!
I have loved Peonies since I was a little girl - fascination with all those old oil paintings in my grandmothers house. Peonies are beautiful full-petalled blooms that were sadly long out of fashion, but over the last while have definitely been making a strong comeback. If you're a Gossip Girl, you may recognise these as Blair Waldorf's flower of choice.
With their big blowsy heads and beautiful fragrance, they're absolutely perfect for wedding table arrangements and make a lovely addition to a bridal bouquet. Currently Marks and Spencers have a special offer - 25% more peonies for your money. As they are still not common-or-garden (excuse the pun), you may have to hunt, not every florist will have them, but I've seen them on Moore Street and Grafton Street so they shouldn't be too difficult to find.
Happy Weekend!!
