Wedding signage has become such huge hit in the past few years and this crafty version is ticking all the right boxes. A little bit arty, a little boho and little bit eclectic, this trend is defo one for the crafty brides or DIY lovin' hubbie-to-be, or One Fab Dad who wants to get involved with all the wedding prep - send him on this post and you never know what you might get!

String Wedding Signs To Anywhere...

String art is pretty simple really.  A design is laid out on paper, and nails or pins are tapped in place, then wrapped with thread or yarn to create a one of a kind piece of art. The technique originated in the 60's and 70's but was made popular again recently by artists such as Dominique FallaPamela Campagna and Gabriel Dawe. It was only a matter of time before the leading wedding stylists cottoned on (geddit?) and started using it in some really cool wedding designs.  From the couples names and initials to signs for cocktail hour or reception areas, there is no end to which you can use string signage.

If you fancy a simple wedding sign, there's a really good tutorial for making a custom name sign over on Ruffled.

String Art Table Plans and Table Numbers

Aside from general signage for the wedding we've also seen string art being used to create table numbers and table plans. While these are pretty impressive, they do require a bit more investment in time and effort, but do look stunning. Perhaps one for the retired Dad with a shed full of tools and a huge amount of patience...

Wedding String Art as a Permanent Memento

One of the things we really like about this new decor trend is the fact that it's really a bespoke piece of art you're creating, it would make a great permanent memento, something you could have hanging in your house forever, and you don't have to be super-crafty to do it. Ultimately, it is pretty simple to make your very own string artwork, it just takes a little bit of patience and some simple supplies - plywood, nails, string and a hammer.

If you fancy giving it a go, here are some of our favourite and easy to follow DIYs from around the web...
