Wedding Designer Focus: Stephanie Allin, Amy Huberman's designer of choice

We haven't done a Designer Focus in a while, and it seemed appropriate to have a look at one whom everyone has been talking about over the last couple of weeks... Unless you were on another planet (or at least out of the country) a couple of weekends ago you couldn't miss the fact that  Brian O'Driscoll and Amy Huberman (Bramy) made the big leap and tied the knot at a splendid affair in Leitrim.  Brian and Amy are really Ireland's equivalent of celeb royalty and for a country desperately in need of a little pick-me-up, their wedding didn't disappoint. They managed to combine tradition, romance,  elegance, glamour and lots of fun - the pictures just oozed happiness.

Amy looked every inch the picture-perfect bride, absolutely stunning in a strapless corseted gown with beautiful bow at the waist and a full skirt edged in satin.  And the question on everyone's lips - who designed her wedding dress?Answer:  Stephanie Allin was the designer of choice for Amy's wedding gown.

Stephanie Allin's Bridal Style

Stephanie Allin is an award-winning Welsh designer based in London. Since establishing her label in 1990 Stephanie has continuously created beautiful, elegant and ultra-feminine bridalwear. Her designs are characterised by an understanding of feminine curves, a simplicity of form and attention to the details that make a dress really stand out. Amy's Symphony dress from the 2010 Dolce Vita collection is a perfect example -  the simple unembellished elegance of the bodice and skirt, with just the addition of a beautiful ribbon at the waist and complementary satin edging on the hem - it was just princess-bride elegant. Perfect for Ireland's rugby princess.

The 2010 collection is called Dolce Vita, evoking a 1950s glamour and soft femininity.  Sashes and bows feature prominently, while the skirts are full mostly, but there are some beautiful hour-glass shaped fishtail gowns. Pictured are the Bardot - a short full-skirted wedding dress with a coloured sash, and the Gabriella, a grecian-style silk chiffon with a beautiful beaded sash across the bust and around the waist.

Also from the Dolce Vita Collection - Melissa is a real Sophia Loren look with a strapless heart-shaped corset, bow nipping in the waist and a full fishtail. The Ruby offers a very different look with a high lace necked bodice and an obi-style ribbon detail.

The Fantasia comes from the Suffolk Collection and with Stephanie's trademark clean lines the skirt is simplicity itself, while the bodice of lace wraps around the shoulders. The Siena from the  Bordeaux Collection has a slightly grecian look in the draping  and beading round the bodice.

Where to find Stephanie Allin's bridal designs?

Stephanie Allin's designs are only stocked in one bridal boutique in the Republic of Ireland - Myrtle Ivory on Anne's Lane in Dublin 2, but you can also find them North of the border in  Ti Amo in Limavady, Derry. Prices start from £2,000.
