A Colour-Filled September Celebration: Jen & Martin's The Station House Hotel Wedding

Featuring a beautiful pregnant bride and dapper groom!

This bride and mama-to-be Jen was the definition of beauty. She radiated a bridal and maternal glow that was elevated by her gorgeous bridal style as well as the beaming groom and dad-to be Martin! The pair planned a sweet September wedding at The Station House Hotel and we fell head over heels for the fun, colourpop scheme. Just you wait until you see the epic rainbow-toned flower arrangements. Not to mention the gorgeous outdoor ceremony set up. Wow. And the rest of this charming day that follows? Organically detailed and incredible. All of the lovely of their Station House Hotel wedding was perfectly captured in the beautiful joy-filled images by Elisha Clarke Photography.

Our lovely couple are Jen and Martin who hail from Dublin and Meath, but are now currently based in Cavan. The pair met in the most modern fashion, online! Jen tells us, "we met online, chatted for a long time before meeting in person. Martin lived in Cavan,  I lived in Dublin and never thought it would go anywhere because of the distance but he was so funny, handsome and charming I couldn’t say no to going on a date!"

The proposal happened at home, on a cosy summer night. Jen fills us in, "Martin set up the projector outside for a movie during a summer evening, there were lots of fairy lights and candles in the garden. I had no idea and when he got down on one knee I said ‘what are you doing you’re going to wreck your trousers!’ Then copped what was happening!"

Once engaged the couple started planning their day which they envisioned to be 'relaxed, personal and fun'.

When asked what was important to them as a couple and what their priorities were, Jen tells us, "I have to say our priorities changed when we found out I was going to be nearly eight months pregnant on the day. We thought about moving the date for a split second but then decided to go for it. I just needed another dress and some of the things I know I probably would have worried about, just went out the window! Our priority was to have a fantastic time with friends and family. We were eager to have a ceremony that reflected us as a couple. We choose not to have a religious ceremony and had Josephine from Your Spiritual Day as our celebrant. We had readings from our favourite movies and wonderful music from Lucy Kavanagh we loved and made it really personal."

With 100 guests surrounding them, Jen and Martin had a romantic, flower-filled outdoor ceremony in the beautiful September sunshine.

Bride Jen has an incredible creative eye as she used to own a gorgeous gift and home decor store in Dundrum so it's no surprise that she planned and designed their day to perfection! For the ceremony, she worked with Owl House Events who provided the rugs used for the aisle, as well as the the hexagon moongate used as a ceremony backdrop.

Restrictions meant the couple had to edit down their original guest list of 150 to 100, which they say was the hardest part of planning. However, the couple tell us that they, "felt blessed to be able to have so many friends at it considering restrictions. Live music had just been permitted and it was 21 degrees at the end of September, so so lucky for an outdoor wedding. We really appreciated everyone who came. We had been cocooning for a long time and it was just so enjoyable to spend time with friends and family and laughed so much."

How utterly beautiful does Jen look in her Motee gown from Memories Bridal Boutique? Although she already found a dress, when the couple found out the amazing news that they were pregnant Jen purchased a second dress also from Memories Bridal to accommodate her growing bump.

For comfort she rocked berry velvet block heels from Forever Soles and gold Zadig and Volatire high tops later that evening.

Jen also had some very special items in her bridal trousseau that she wore on the big day. "My something blue was a ring that belonged to my mum, my something borrowed was a vintage hankie I had given to my best friend for her wedding a few years ago, my something new were my diamond earrings Martin had gotten me and my something old was a gold flower brooch I wore in my hair that belonged to my gran, Alice."

Martin meanwhile was suited and booted in a blue wool suit with camel waistcoat, and navy check shirt, very dapper indeed.

The blue bridesmaids dresses were a Folkster find.

The couple hired wedding illustrator Linda Byrne to create gorgeous bespoke illustrations for each of their guests so they had a unique little keepsake of the day. The couple also used one of themselves for their thank you cards.

After the speeches, it was time to head indoors to The Station House Hotel's Carriage Suite Banqueting Room which was filled to the brim with beautiful blooms.

The couple have these words of wedded wisdom for other couples planning their day, "plan the big things first, venue, ceremony, music. Don’t sweat the small stuff, it’s just a big party for your loved ones and cherish every second!" The bride adds, "make sure your photographer works super quick on your photos after the ceremony like ours did so you can get back to your friends and family asap!"

After the celebrations the couple headed off on an early, pre-wedding wedding and we love the idea! Jen tells us, "we went on an early honeymoon before the wedding to The Park, Kenmare to avoid being too far from our hospital and it was so fantastic I can’t recommend it enough. The staff, the food and spa were just wonderful as was Kenmare. Highly recommend a visit."

Thanks so much to Jen and Martin for sharing their gorgeous, Station House Hotel wedding with us, and to Elisha Clarke for providing the beautiful imagery! There are even more photographs to swoon over in the gallery below.
