The Street Where One Fab Day Lives - a Stuff We Love Special

One Fab Day has moved to South Anne Street - woohoo! We took a stroll down the street to check out our neighbours and so many of them are great wedding shopping spots we thought an intro to the street we now live on would be a nice Stuff We Love

This fine Friday morning we have some big news to share with you ladies and gentlemen - One Fab Day has moved into our first ever grown-up office! We've moved from our previous digs in my house to a lovely space on the corner of Dawson St. and South Anne St. in the heart of Dublin 2. Posh or wha?!  We're absolutely delighted with our new place, and looking forward to more exciting developments over the next few months so stay tuned...

South Anne Street Dublin

Meanwhile we thought it would be fun to have a look around our new home, so Joanna did some window-shopping  scoping out of the street and got the lowdown on our neighbours, lots of whom will be of interest to you while you're in wedding shopping mode...

T.M. Lewin (Men and Womenswear):

T.M.Lewin was established in 1898 in Jermyn Street, London.  Nearly 100 years ago, he became one of the first to make the 'coat-shirt', the groundbreaking idea of a shirt with buttons down the front! Today, T.M.Lewin offers a range of menswear that includes mens shirts, suits, ties, cufflinks, casualwear, outerwear and accessories but they also have a very distinguished womenswear range for all of you ladies out there looking for a chic new work wardrobe. Bake My Cake:

As an architect with a little more time on her hands, Catherine De Groot embraced the recession by turning to her passion for pastry and starting Bake My Cake in 2009. Never one to attend a party without a tray of cupcakes in one hand and a box of brownies in the other, Catherine now specialises in designing striking cakes and creating yummy cupcakes. From your favourite designer shoes and handbags to your kids’ beloved cartoon characters, Bake My Cake can create the perfect centerpiece for any party. Their wedding cake selection is beautiful and as somebody who has tasted the cupcakes, I can highly recommend them. They are delicious!

The Zip Yard Alterations

The Zip Yard was founded in 2005 after lots of market research identified a gap in the market where they found how very few of us gals are actually lucky enough to fit into the ‘standard’ European sizes found on the High Street. They also realised that people no longer had the time or skills to be slaving away with a sewing machines trying to tackle even the simplest of hems let alone risking damage to a favourite (and expensive) little black dress. This great Irish success story means you can now get your clothes altered at a very reasonable price and they even have an express 1 hour service so back away from the needle and thread ladies. They also specialise in wedding and formal wear alterations which is a bonus for all of our One Fab Day brides to be.

Sheridans Cheese Mongers

Sheridans Cheese Mongers are both retailers and wholesalers of delicious Irish and European foods. Cheese is obviously what Sheridans specialises in though so why not try one of their alternative cheese wedding cakes which are becoming mega popular. The basic idea is that, either as an alternative or in addition to the traditional wedding cake, the bride and groom present their guests with various cheeses which have been stacked and decorated to resemble a classic wedding cake. It is a fun and interesting alternative to the traditional wedding cake and it will certainly get your guests talking.

American Honey Boutique

American Honey is a stylish new boutique that has opened up beside us. It has a quintessential Southern California style inspired by the beach culture that has lent inspiration to the hottest designers in the fashion world. Their stock is super-chic and the beautiful colours alone are enough to have all of us girls at One Fab Day drooling. Located right beside us on South Anne Street, they even stock Jeffrey Campbell shoes and JoEd Melrose accessories. Call in and take a look at all of their gorgeous goodies. We have been doing a lot of window shopping every time we walk past and you won't be disappointed!

Reflections Jewellery, Gold Fingers Jewellery, Curios, John Byrnes and Sons and The Jewel Casket:

If you are a fiend for vintage jewellery like all of us in the OFD office you will love both of these little shops on our street. They both have a great selection of sparkly diamonds, classic pearls, rings, brooches and many more items known to make a girl swoon.  Pop in and take a look at some of their gorgeous pieces. You never know, you might find your something old (and new and maybe even a blue ring like Kate's!) while you're browsing.

This well known brand carries an eclectic mix of jewellery for men and women including a unique collection of cufflinks, charms and charm bracelets. They also carry a huge range of wedding accessories from engagement rings, to cufflinks for the groom to bridesmaids and groomsmen gifts. Why not start a charm bracelet on your wedding day or even give them as a gift to your bridesmaids to remember the big day. It seems to be that Links of London is a one stop shop for all of your wedding jewellery needs.

John Brereton Jewellery:

Since 1916 John Brereton Jewellers have specialised in individually selecting diamonds for their jewellery collection. These beautiful pieces are made of platinum or gold and include diamond rings, engagement rings, wedding rings, earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. Also for any ambitious men out there planning on designing the engagement ring, their talented jewellery designers and goldsmiths will be able to custom make a piece especially for you so why not get your creative hat on and design that one of a kind piece for your special lady.

Kehoes Pub:

You will of course be exhausted after your long day of shopping on South Anne Street so why not round it all off with a well deserved tipple in the well know Kehoes Pub. You won't be disappointed as it offers both a convivial atmosphere and a cracking pint. Kehoe's, is a traditional Dublin Pub, located on South Anne Street just off Grafton Street. One of Dublin's busiest boozers before the advent of the superpub a decade ago, it has remained a popular bar with college students and the trendier type of Dublin punter. Pop in and tell them the girls at One Fab Day sent you!
