"City Chic Vibes": Sophie & Richard's Downsized Wedding

This bride's outfit stopped us in our tracks!

No matter how large your original guest list, cutting the numbers down to just 25 is a really tough job, so we are just in awe of today's real wedding couple, Sophie and Richard, for infusing their small Dublin city wedding with so much personality. Their big day, which comprised a moving ceremony at Dublin City Hall, and reception at Cliff Townhouse, was intimate, stylish, and so much fun. Pawel Bebenca Photography captured their big little day in glorious detail, so let's take a closer look...

Sophie tells us that she met Richard back when they were in school. "We met through mutual friends, and have been together 16 years now!"

This couple's proposal actually took place in the water, off the coast of a small Croatian island called Vis. "We were on a group holiday with friends and had chartered a boat for the day to bring us around the islands," Sophie tells us. "While snorkeling in the bay of Vis, he proposed."

For their big day, Sophie and Richard hoped to create "city chic vibes! We wanted our wedding to be relaxed, happy, comfortable and classy! Because it was a small wedding, we found ourselves so present in the moments throughout the day and night."

The couple's top priorities were, "to have an intimate ceremony with family and close friends, to feel comfortable, enjoy the day and be in the moment."

The couple's adorable nine-month-old son, Spencer, stole the show!

Sophie's bridesmaids wore forest green jumpsuits by ASOS on the big day. These are such a clever buy (the girls can definitely wear them again!) , and we love how they've been styled up with sandals that match Sophie's own.

Choosing Dublin City Hall for their wedding was easy for this pair. "We wanted to get married somewhere a bit alternative as we were having a humanist wedding, but also somewhere historic and classic. City Hall is one of the most stylish and elegant venues in Dublin, the stunning architecture inside and a classic Georgian venue made it the ideal location for us."

After the ceremony, the couple and their guests went for a meal at Cliff Townhouse, where Sophie's Mam, Karen, had created an incredible wedding cake, complete with crocheted cake topper! Sophie tells us, "She created a rustic-style, two-layer wedding cake, consisting of chocolate biscuit cake covered in a white chocolate ganache and Christmas cake (given the time of year!), covered in a white icing frosting." What a talented mother of the bride!

Sophie tells us that one of her favourite memories from the big day was, "taking time on my own on the morning to do my makeup. It was a lovely hour of peace and relaxation."

It's officially time to talk about Sophie's incredible bridal look! She wore a three-piece outfit, comprising a pearl-encrusted bodysuit, slim masculine-style trousers and an embellished detachable overskirt with oversized bow at the back, by Niamh Lynch of Bespoke Bridal.

Sophie's advice to engaged couples is to "do it the way they want it, and not get caught up in what it 'should be'. It’s a day of celebration with those who mean the most."

The Covid-19 pandemic has brought the couple's honeymoon plans to a halt, but, Sophie tells us, "we will make it to Hawaii at some point in the future!"

Thanks so much to Sophie and Richard for sharing their small Dublin city wedding with us, and to Pawel Bebenca Photography for providing the beautiful imagery! There are more images in the gallery below - click through to see them!
