Tips for Buying Slip Dresses for Bridesmaids
- While our picks below have some gorgeous brands that carry a selection of wedding-worthy slip dresses, as with any trend, you can look to the high street and current designer collections too. Topshop, ASOS, Revolve, Pretty Little Thing, Zara, Marks and Spencer and Net-a-Porter are all good places to start.
- Slip dresses can vary vastly in price and quality, ranging from 100% silk to satin weaves or high quality rayon to viscose blends. For a high-quality, classic slip look, avoid anything with too much stretch (or you'll be verging into body-con territory!), a slip dress should skim, not cling.
- While a slip is a classic shape, play around with different necklines, lengths and styles, a midi-length, a thigh-high split, a cowl neckline or criss-cross straps can all shake up the look.
- Think slip dresses are only for bridesmaids with waif-like figure? Think again. A well-cut slip dress can look stunning on any shape and can be ultra sexy on fuller figures. We're looking to slip-fan, Ashley Graham (here rocking a Nili Lotan slip) for inspiration.
- While we love the idea of showing a little skin and flaunting what you've got, there's no denying slip dresses can be revealing and take a certain level confidence to wear - if you have your heart set on a slip, chat to your bridesmaids and make sure they'll be comfortable on the day.
- A classic slip dress is an iconic shape, but there are ways you can pay homage to the style with a more wearable bridesmaid dress, a cami top and skirt as separates is a chic way to work the trend, as is a belted gown or wrap dress with spaghetti straps.
