Should We Have a Wedding Registry for Gifts?

10 great reasons to have a gift list for guests

Wedding gifts can be a difficult dilemma for guests to navigate. Should they gift cash and if so how much? Or perhaps they prefer the idea of giving a more personal gift but haven't a clue what to choose. The last thing any couple wants is to end up with is lots of presents that overlap or worse, that you don't like. This is where a wedding registry or gift list could be the perfect solution for everyone. Of course there will be some guests who have a very special gift in mind that's not on the list, and of course what they choose is up to them. However gift registry services are a handy way to cut out any uncertainty and ensure you get exactly what you want. If you're still on the fence, here we're going to share 10 reasons you should have a wedding gift registry below.

1. You Won't be Repeatedly Asked What You Want

On top of this, You will probably have plenty of questions coming your way on the lead up to your wedding, so it's always great to cut out this particular query. Having a wedding registry completely cuts out the guessing game for guests and the admin for you.

2. Guests Can Shop Online

We're all a bit time poor these days, but if you choose a wedding reigstry online, at say Amazon or the The Wedding Shop, your guests can shop something you want at the click of a button.

3. It Makes Asking For Cash Gifts Easier

While physical gifts might seem like the obvious choice for a wedding gift registry, with some online wedding registry sites offer the option of setting up a fund which your guests can contribute to. Whether that's towards your honeymoon, a house deposit fund or something else important. It also means you won't be dealin with as many cards on the day, which will take the pressure off keeping them safe.

4. Guests Can Present Pool

Online registries are also a great way for people to group together to buy one big present for you, that you really want.

5. There's Something for Every Budget

Some guests might be working with a smaller budget, or might want to give you a token gift if they are not invited to the full day. They might feel better being able to choose something with a smaller price tag that you really want, or being able to contribute to a bigger present.

6. You Get Gifts You Will Actually Use/Want

If like most couples you live together before getting hitched, you'll most likely have a lot of household items already. However, having a wedding registry means that you can focus on what you really need, or have always wanted, like those Le Creuset casserole dishes you've had your eye on!

7. No Duplicates

Most wedding registries will show guests when a gift has already been purchased, so this rules out the risk of receiving any duplicate gifts, and means no returning for you afterwards.

8. Get Gifted an Experience

You can also use wedding registries to ask for funds towards experiences such as theatre tickets, dinners and glamping and mini breaks, which adds a personalised dimension to cash gifts.

9. You Can Gift to Charity

Just like you can create a honeymoon fund, you can also create a fund for a charity cause that is close to your heart. Donations would be made in lieu of a gift.

10. Keeps Everything in the Same Place, Safely

Getting your gifts delivered to your home at a time that suits you means that on your wedding day you won't have to keep track of presents and envelopes filled with cash. You want to focus on having the best day ever! Wedding registries should also offer guarantees on security for keeping your online funds safe for that extra peace of mind.
