Last seen in 1988, the humble Shoe Clip has suffered a life of exile for the last 20 years. Up until recently the thinking was - if you want a red shoe with a bow on it, just buy a pair! It would never have occurred to a 2006 girl-about-town to add a clip to her little red pump and give it a new lease of life.

Well every cloud has a silver lining, and for shoe clips the big fat R word (we do not use nasty words on this happy, happy blog) has brought about a change in attitude and the shoe clip is back with a bang baby!

Bridal shoe clips

It's a really simple, cheap and fun way to add a little funk to your bridal shoes, or make plain bridesmaids shoes work with your desired look. You can buy any kind of coloured sandals or pumps on the high street and accessorize to match your colour scheme or theme.

They have traditionally suffered from a dowdy image but you can see from our fab picks - they are anything but old Aunty Nora style - these are bang up to date. Take the pretty fuchsia chiffon flowers on silver shoes from B.Poetic as an example...

Or what about a  little vintage style from Absolutely Audrey or ribbon roses from Brydferth on Etsy? Finding the perfect wedding shoes not seeming so daunting any more...

Wedding Shoe Clips

There is so much to choose from...

Little pompoms would be easy to make yourself (on a flowergirls shoes - too cute) - these are from Ban.do. Grey suede flowers with green beading for your bridesmaids shoes? No problem say Finkshop. We had to give a second example from Absolutely Audrey, because they are the queen bees of shoe clips, and are stocked in shops all over Ireland. In fact, judging by the fact that Ireland seems to be the second biggest market after the U.S. there are obviously a lot of you already in on this little gem of a secret...

Our final pick just had to be these super cute oversized red sequin heart clips from Ban.do - sure it's still Valentines week!
