The Secret Garden: Ideas for a Romantic Wedding in Ireland

Beautiful florals, elegant styling, and gorgeous hair and makeup...

Today's wedding inspiration shoot is bona fide bridal eye-candy. Gorgeous hair and make-up, luxurious florals, a beautiful cake, the prettiest stationery, and a scattering effortlessly elegant styling ideas - all set in the most idyllic walled garden in Wicklow. Jen of As Ever Photography is a Utah-based destination wedding photographer, who returned to her beloved Ireland to team up with some fabulous local wedding suppliers. Together they created a romantic wedding inspiration based on the children's classic, The Secret Garden, and as you'll see, the results are just as enchanting as the book...

"And the secret garden bloomed and bloomed and every morning revealed new miracles."

Jen of As Ever Photography tells us a little bit about the idea behind this shoot, "The classic story The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett was my inspiration for this shoot and I was so fortunate to have had help from some amazing wedding artists to bring it to life. I previously lived in Ireland and traveled back "home" this past June; I organised this editorial for one of the days of my visit… and I made sure to bring along my mother's beautiful copy of the book from the 1950s!"

Jen shot on location at a spectacular private manor house with a Victorian walled garden in County Wicklow.

Jen says the idyllic location was the perfect setting for her vision if a Secret Garden wedding in Ireland, "From the moment you walk down the garden path, shaded by a canopy of leaves, unlocking the rusted gate with the ancient skeleton key, you can't help but fall in love with the charm and whimsy of this magical place. There is no end to the delightful sights on the grounds of the manor house - from the resident ducks to the lush pond to a darling vintage bicycle - there is something enchanting around every corner!"

Every detail in the shoot was carefully considered, as Jen tells us, "The organic florals were all sustainably grown on-site in the walled garden and intentionally arranged by Fionnuala Fallon (The Irish Flower Farmer), who also hand-dyed the silk ribbons."

I think this stunning flower-adorned cake will inspire lots of couples planning an Irish wedding with an organic feel, "Jen Rojas of Cupcakes and Counting created the most beautiful 3-tiered cake with climbing vines and wildflowers from the garden as well."

The stationery really tied together the elegance and romance of the shoot, "Hand-drawn floral sketches adorn the invitation suite designed by Vita Popov and the tiniest of vines decorate our place setting as well, creating a modern, fine art garden party aesthetic that brides planning a summer wedding will love."

Lots of pretty styling ideas throughout from Lovebird Designs - I love the romance of these candlesticks lighting up a stairway

These flowers are just spectacular, like something straight out of a painting!

Matte brown shadow, striking eye liner, and a pretty rose lip, a modern, yet timeless makeup look by Making Faces.

This floral up-style by Claire Barry is so gorgeous - elegant without being fussy.

Seriously though - what a charming garden! I love the idea of renting out your own manor house for a romantic elopement in Ireland!

So many pretty ideas! Thanks so much to Jen of As Ever Photography, and the rest of this talented team for sharing your beautiful work with us.
