A Great Love In the Wilds of Scotland

Join Julie and Matt for something very special indeed

Have you ever wondered what it must be like for those who work in the wedding industry, watching couples celebrate week in week out, seeing amazing and truly personal expressions of love and how, over the last couple of years in particular, how creativity has burst forth. Being surrounded by love, seeing images of fun, laughter and beauty, and the constant stream of inspiration does make one stop every so often and wish to also celebrate your own great love. And celebrating love shouldn't be a one-time event.

It should be something we embrace throughout our lives, so I'm so delighted that today we're sharing something really special - Julie Paisley, one of the foremost wedding photographers from the US, inspired by all the wonderful stories she captures, decided to celebrate a very important milestone in her love story with husband Matt, with a beautiful anniversary shoot in the wilds of Scotland. We love this, and hope it's the start of a beautiful new trend...

Looking at these two, you would never guess that Julie and Matt have been married for 20 years. Yes, you read that right - 20. My first question was: when did they get married? Kindergarten? But it's true, they've just celebrated 20 years together, and this shoot was a great way to mark that milestone and celebrate a love and friendship for a lifetime...

"We were college sweethearts and were married right after graduation.  When I found out that I had the opportunity to travel to Europe for a shoot, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity for us to celebrate our love by having a photoshoot at a castle in Scotland, what is more romantic than that?  20 yrs of marriage is such a big accomplishment in this day and age and although it has not always been easy, I wouldn’t change anything for the world. It’s amazing sharing life with your best friend.

This shoot was exactly how I dreamed it to be.  Of course it would have been nice to have a little less rain and drizzle but then again, it is Scotland. And, the rain gave it a romantic quality to it. At the end of the day, we just wanted to capture our love and Craig and Eva did that perfectly.

Julie's dress is the epitome of wild and romantic - a perfect pairing for the scenery. But it's not one you can buy - she explained "Since this was our 20th anniversary pictures, I had a dress special made for the occasion. And while Julie did pack very cute little vintage shoes from Ruche, the weather won out and the trusty Hunter welly boots were put on.

It looks like the weather didn't do anything to dampen the romance, in fact, it seems pretty perfect to me - the very picture of a wild Scottish romance. Huge congratulations guys! 20 years is a super achievement, here's to many more decades of love and romance for you both.
