For us weddings are all about celebrating love in whatever way best resonates with you. For you, that could be wearing a big white ballgown, carrying a bouquet, saying 'I Do' in the church and tossing confetti, or it could be rocking a bright yellow dress, carrying a dog, jumping in a vintage red Cortina and tossing pebbles into the sea. Today's Saturday Selection is a homage to the uniqueness of real weddings, and an ode to the couples who make their day their own. And we've got four cool, fun, stylish couples who made their day their own.
A Dog-Friendly Barn Bash: Malin & Niclas
Malin & Niclas tied the knot in Sweden, at a place called Lydinge Säteri. The venue is a small manor which, as photographer Primalux describes it, feels as though time has stood still. Nova, the couple's adorable pooch was the guest of honour on the day, with her own dress for the occasion, the was carried up the aisle after the ceremony. The groom's sister, a florist, created the floral decor. The reception was held in the beautiful, cosy barn, which gave the couples the relaxed, rustic wedding they were looking for. A Ray of Sunshine: Emma & Joe
Let's be honest, it was that spectacular yellow dress that first drew us to Emma and Joe's Mount Druid wedding, but this was a day that was packed with substance as well as killer style. The Irish bride and English groom first met online. The couple planned their wedding from London, and brought lots of their pals across the Irish sea so celebrate! Starting their day with a humanist ceremony, the couple wanted their wedding to be laid-back, with zero formalities. And as you can see from these fabulous photos by Weddings by Jason, that's exactly what they got! See more from their day here.
Tossing Pebbles on Strangford Lough: Ruaire & Jen
Ruaire and Jen first met ten years ago in New Zealand and have lived there ever since. The Antrim groom and London bride flew home to Northern Ireland for their gorgeous wedding at Old Court Chapel on the shores of Strangford Lough. One of the first couples in Northern Ireland to have a legal humanist ceremony, they included a hand-fasting ceremony and a post-ceremony pebble toss. The couple ducked out of their reception dinner to grab some gorgeous golden hour shots with photographer Karen Grattan.
On the Ring of Kerry: Grainne & Tony
Grainne and Tony are one stylish pair (we are in love with the bride's Rime Arodaky wedding dress from The White Gallery!). The couple decided to buck tradition and stay together the night before their wedding, and Grainne tells us, waking up next to her husband-to-be, just like any other day, helped keep her nerves in check. The couple used the red Cortina as their official wedding transport, an old family car packed with memories. After their church ceremony in Fossa, the couple took in the nearby sights on the Ring of Kerry, stopping at Beaufort Bridge and the Gap of Dunloe before making their way back for a fun reception at The Great Southern Hotel. Emily Doran Photography captured some pretty gorgeous moments en route.
