In this week's Saturday selection, we're looking at five amazing real weddings that embody all that is good about the sea, sunshine and that lovely ocean breeze! Each of these couples chose to put their love of the ocean at the heart of their wedding day and we love the results! Take a look for yourself!
Sun, sea, love and laughter in Mykonos: Kateryna & Alex
This wedding of Kateryna and Alex was truly show-stopping, thanks to the mountainous seaside views at Villa Anna on the Greek Island of Mykonos. Alex has Greek roots, so they decided on a family wedding in Mykonos. For Kateryna, this is definitely one of the most beautiful places in the world! She tells us, "It was stylish in a private villa over the sea, but also had a home feel, so that everyone felt comfortable." The gorgeous textures, fabrics and colours were inspired by the sea, and we are in love with Kateryna's silk dress! Olive tree branches and lemons chosen by Mykanos Flowers and Mykanos Wedding adorned their family dinner, and everything was captured by the very talented Magdalene Kourti. You can see more of Magdalene's work here.
Atlantic Amour at the Armada Hotel: Olivia & Sebastian
Olivia and Sebastian had originally planned to get married in Spain, but, due to Covid-19 restrictions, traded one ocean view for another, tying the knot at The Armada Hotel in Clare! This couple wanted to do things a little differently so chose to have their friend, Rory, lead them in a delightfully offbeat ceremony! They even included a shot of tequila as the "closing blessing"! Olivia tells us, "Seb and I do love tequila and Rory had a whole speech around what each element meant; Lime represents life, May you always have a zest for it. Salt represents salary, May you always have good fortune. Tequila represents spirit, May yours always be strong." We just love this idea! The beautiful images from Olivia and Sebastian's big day were captured by Dermot Byrne Photography, you'll find more of his work here.
Bliss on the Beach at Ballyseede Castle: Emma & Bryan
This emotive pink and lilac affair took place in Ballyseede Castle and was the stunning wedding of Emma and Bryan. Emma's beautiful dress was made by her aunt, Ann, who came out of retirement to make it! Isn't it gorgeous!? The couple chose to have their wedding portraits taken on Fenit beach, which is very special to them; it was the place they had their first date and also where Bryan popped the question! We're told that as soon as they got there, "Bryan swept Emma off her feet all over again." The couple also recreated a picture from her twin brother Jack's wedding outside Emma's family run pub in Farranfore! The two beautiful images will be displayed behind the bar which is an idea we just love! The stunning images were taken by Emily Doran Photography at One Love, and you can see more of her amazing work here.
Smiles and ice-cream at Fallon & Byrne: Ralph and Mary
The beautiful wedding of Mary and Ralph took place in Fallon & Byrne but not before stopping at Coliemore Harbour in Dalkey for Teddy's ice-cream. We are told that Ralph is a big foodie and was "itching for a Teddy's" before the reception! We just adore these nautical images that were captured with so much love from Bradley Kearns Photography. You can see more of Bradley's work here.
