Saturday Selection: India, Wisconsin... and Galway

Around the world in five gorgeous (and entirely different!) weddings

Today's Saturday Selection takes us from the foothills of the Himalayas to the edge of Ireland. Our motto is there's no right - or wrong! - way to get married. We've got a line-up of five couples and five weddings that are all completely different. From the couple who booked a cottage and got married on a cliff, to the couple who took 60 guests on an epic bike trip in India. The ones who had two weddings in a week, to the ones who had two weddings in a day! Or of course, the couple who kept it traditional, but added lots of personal touches and vintage flair. Yep, there's no one way of doing it, so let these weddings inspire you to do something a little bit different with your own...

Epic Simplicity: Tara & Chad

Tara and Chad said their 'I dos' on a cliff edge in Connemara, surrounded by their closest friends and family. The couple, determined to make their day their own, found a beautiful cottage near the water and planned their very own DIY bash. After their emotional vows (which involved a group hand-fasting), the couple and their guests enjoyed food and drinks in the cottage garden before heading to a nearby pub for dinner and dancing. Sometimes the most simple weddings are the most memorable. Moat Hill Photography captured this special day beautifully, see more of their gorgeous wedding here.

A Two in One Wedding Day: Katie & Sean

Can't decide between an intimate wedding in your back garden or a big bash in a beautiful venue? Katie and Sean are proof that you can do both! The couple had an emotional ceremony led by Katie's brother in her parents' backyard with their closest family, best friends and some newly born kittens by their side. Then it was on to Wisconsin's Horticultural Hall for a lantern lighting ceremony in the venue's vine-covered courtyard and a night of wining, dining and dancing. Our favourite detail? The hotdog cart that pulled up to serve late night snacks to their guests! The celebrations were captured by PM Photo MKE, see more of their work here.

Wedding Number Two: Angela & Neal

Angela and Neal had not one, but two weddings in a single week, over 6000 miles apart. The English bride and Irish groom live in Dubai and stopped, en route to Ireland to elope with an intimate ceremony in Mauritius. With the pressure off for their Irish wedding, the couple were able to relax and enjoy the festivities with a ceremony in Neal's hometown of Skerries and a flower-filled reception at Glebe House in Dowth. Spellbound Photography captured all the details along with their breezy beach photo session, you can see more from their day here.

A Fun Family Affair at the K Club: Emily & David

This Dublin bride and her Mancunian groom tied the knot with a vintage-inspired wedding at The K Club in Kildare. While the pre-wedding process was mostly smooth sailing, Emily was finishing her PhD as the final arrangements were being made, making the planning hard to juggle. Thankfully the couple's family stepped in, and from aunties baking cakes and sewing dresses, to the mother of the bride making the favours, and even Emily's stepdad drilling last minute holes in the groom's belt, these two had a lot of helping hands! The day was captured by Tomasz Kornas Photography, you can see more of his work here.

High Altitude Love: Shachi & Rikhil

Shachi and Rikhil are bikers, travel enthusiasts and both work as film-producers in India. Opting to forgo the traditional Indian wedding (and the typical guest list of 500 that goes with it!) they took the trip of a lifetime with 60 close friends and family to Pangong Lake in Ladakh, Northern India - 4,350m above sea level, in the Himalayas. There was altitude sickness, bike issues, and extremely low temperatures, but they made it! They found the perfect spot for their vows, hung a local prayer flag and had wedding they, and their guests, will never forget! The journey was photographed by Varun Jain of A Knotty Tale (which is owned by Shachi!), see more of their work here.
