Having always dreamed of a destination wedding Laura and Nauman decided to make their dreams come true and wed at the scenic location of San Sebastián. The epitome of a dream destination wedding Laura and Nauman's day by Jesús Caballero Photography encapsulates it all - divine local food, a stunning church ceremony and a sensational designer wedding gown. Well worth the 5,000 mile trip...
Beautiful bride Laura tells us how she and Nauman ended up celebrating their wedding day in sunny San Sebastian..."Nauman and I like to think of ourselves as the spontaneous, adventurous types; so having a destination wedding was something we talked about early on in our relationship. We usually throw ourselves full speed ahead into an idea and then worry about the logistics later. In the end, being a wedding planner myself helped with some of the more daunting aspects of planning from so far away."
With a destination wedding in mind Laura and Nauman began researching different locations and soon fell in love with the beautiful scenery, welcoming people and irresistible food of San Sebastian, Spain.
Eager to have a legal catholic ceremony in Spain Laura began searching for the perfect place and found the stunning basÃlica de Santa Maria del Coro, where Nauman’s uncle married them and a classic string trio and soprano played throughout. Laura remembers..."Our faith is very important to us so we wanted our friends and family to feel the majestic beauty of such an old and storied house of worship."
After their epic ceremony Laura and Nauman were treated to a performance by basque dancers, who traditionally dance after weddings in honour of the newly wed couple.
Stunning bride Laura chose to wear a long sleeve wedding dress by Inbal Dror, which she accessorised with a treasured family heirloom. She describes..."The most important part was an ancient Spanish veil bought in Paris by Nauman's family at XIX century and used at all the family weddings throughout the last 200 years and then kept by the oldest woman of the family."
After a short trip in a luxe classic car Laura and Nauman arrived for their traditional Spanish wedding meal. Laura remembers fondly..."When we arrived to the restaurant there was a band playing live American music during the reception, while our guests were tasting typical Basque pintxos (tapas) and there was also a man cutting jamon (ham). After the reception all the guests went inside the restaurant to enjoy an amazing dinner of 6 dishes. Nauman and I feel deeply grateful for our experience with such a special place. I know we will continue to visit often San Sebastian over the course of our lives together!"
To enhance their meal Laura and Nauman's friend created beautiful stationery and a local baker baked a stunning hand painted tiered cake to compliment the pretty colour scheme of the day.
