On this dull and overcast Tuesday, we are delighted to bring you a little sunshine in the form of Siobhan and Sean's super-pretty wedding, courtesy of the photographic talents of Gary Barrett. Siobhan and Sean were recently married in St. Annes Church of Shanvagera, just outside Knock, Co. Mayo, and afterwards celebrated at the beautiful Castle Dargan Hotel. This wedding is so beautifully colourful and filled with charming little details, the whole thing just oozes rustic country chic!
Siobhan's pretty bridal bouquet contained hints of blue and yellow mixed in with white stock, astilbe and lashings of green. The beautiful bunch was hand tied with burlap and a hint of lace topped of with a Miraculous Medal charm.
So tell us - how did you two meet and make it up the aisle? "We met in Galway on Connaught Final weekend in 2009. Mayo won the following day so it was a good start! Seán proposed at our new home on our second anniversary, we went back to Galway the following weekend to choose my ring!"
A beautiful vintage car driven by the groom's friend Paul, ensured Siobhan got to the church on time!
My favourite moment of the day was definitely walking up the aisle, I always felt I was going to be really nervous and emotional, but the nerves and tears never arrived. Once I saw everyone, saw Sean at the top, and heard the Music I couldn't wait to get going, there was such a lovely relaxed atmosphere in the church and as I reached the top the guests broke into cheers and applause, a moment I will never forget!
For outside the church Siobhan choose large creamery cans overflowing with pretty flowers to decorated the doorway. Inside, the rustic country chic details continued with touches of wildflowers, jam jars, gingham and burlap.
Siobhan looks so radiant, just the way every bride should be, and Sean looks as pleased as punch — as he should be too!
Instead of just one cake we decided to have a cake table with a selection of sweet treats, so again the family took over, Sean’s Sister and Aunt (The two Marys) baked beautiful cakes, and Bridesmaid Laura & her Boyfriend John spent the days before the wedding baking over 200 cupcakes!....sounds like hard work, but the results sure did pay off, just take a glimpse at that yummy dessert table!
So finally, what advice would you give to brides and grooms planning their day? Put your own stamp on the day, it's definitely worth the little bit of extra work incorporating a theme or adding a few individual touches, when you see the final result. Involve family and friends as much as possible, it makes the day so much more personal. Enjoy every minute of the Church ceremony and take it all in, as that part of the day, for us, was definitely the most special...Oh and get a DVD, its great fun looking back on all that you may have missed throughout the day!
Congratulations Siobhan and Sean. What a beautiful day you two had. And big thanks to the super talented Gary Barett for sharing the the photos!
