Today's real wedding couple Izzy and Sean married at a chic and intimate country wedding at Sopley Mill in Dorset that could only be described one other way: personal. The pretty personal touches – from the wedding flowers and cake made by family and friends and custom favours, to the couple's 'something borrowed' vintage car and Izzy's romantic bridal look – are dripping with personality. Lucky for us, Beanie from Beans On Toast For Two shared all the gorgeousness of their little big day with us so you can see every last detail up close!
This couple first met back December 2017, but, they tell us, it wasn't exactly love at first sight! Izzy tells us, "We got along amazingly as friends, but I thought he was a bit of a plonker and so there was no romantic feeling there...to begin with. After a few months of back to back talking, we thought we’d give it a go, but, unfortunately, we ended things before they went any further. A year later, in December 2018, we got back in contact and had an emotional, long-winded phone call about how wrong it felt not being together and how right it was when we were. He made it very clear that for him, it was me or no one and now here we are, fast approaching our first year as a married couple, and what a wonderful year it’s been!"
The proposal was a sweet and intimate one. "Sean knew I wasn’t one for loud, showy, public proposals, so he planned our one to be very intimate," Izzy says. "It was a very hot weekend in August and we were driving back up to London after a weekend down South with my parents. That whole weekend I had a feeling a proposal was going to happen, but it didn’t. So, you can imagine, as we were on our way back to London with no ring on my finger, I was pretty feeling pretty gutted. However, when we arrived at his family home he got very suspicious and disappeared upstairs. A few minutes later, he called me up and as I walked the stairs, I could smell hundreds of candles. I walked in to his room, and there were fairy lights, candles and flower petals covering the whole room. A bottle of champagne, glasses and chocolate strawberries were on a little table and Polaroids of us both were clipped to the fairy lights. And there he was, on the floor, on one knee!"
Izzy's airy and romantic lace wedding dress is by the Justin Alexander label Sincerity, which she sourced at a bridal boutique in Bournemouth. We love the softness of that sweetheart neckline!
She completed her bridal look with a romantic tulle veil, a crystal hair comb, sparkly drop earrings and Rainbow Club heels.
Strict lockdown measures at the time meant that this couple had to downsize to 30 guests, but they definitely made the most of a tricky situation. The couple tell us that they were grateful to "be able to have a wedding at all! We found out only 2 days before our wedding that we would be able to have a reception, so, absolutely everyone there, from our guests right through to our suppliers, made our day so unbelievably special. We felt so much love and support and I don’t believe there’s anything quite so wonderful as feeling that on one of the biggest days of your life."
When it came to planning their day, Izzy had two main priorities. "As the bride, I’d dreamt of my wedding for a very long time. I knew getting the right venue was the first step, but then choosing the best food was the next most important thing! Everyone remembers the food!"
It took the couple no time at all to fall in love with Sopley Mill. "I wouldn’t know where to begin. It was perfect, it offered the beautiful scenery and a wonderful history," Izzy says. "The style and look meant that extra decor wasn’t something we had to think about! And for a Covid wedding, it made a relatively small wedding feel like a huge gathering."
Izzy and Sean describe their little big day as, "A chic & intimate affair set in the countryside. The whole day felt like a gorgeous holiday in our own little world."
The couple's chariot of choice made the perfect 'something borrowed'! "We were very lucky to have a wonderful family friend who happened to have a gorgeous vintage car we could borrow for the day!"
Izzy and Sean's advice to engaged couples is to, "try to remain as organised as possible and don’t forget to enjoy it. As stressful and as time consuming as it may be, it’s such an exciting time that shouldn’t be underestimated or forgotten about!"
Izzy and Sean clearly have got some very talented pals! Their friend Jeanette created their wedding flowers and another pal made their wedding cake!
As a sweet thank you to their guests, the couple had yummy fudge wedding favours, which the bride personalised with tags she sourced on Etsy.
Unfortunately, due to Covid travel restrictions, the couple had to postpone their honeymoon, but the pair hope to jet off to Antigua for a couple of weeks in the near future!
Thanks so much to Izzy and Sean for sharing their gorgeous romantic Sopley Mill wedding with us, and to Beanie from Beans On Toast For Two for providing the beautiful imagery! There are even more photographs to swoon over in the gallery below.
