Today's wedding is one for those of you who are seeking a little hint of perfection when it comes to your wedding. Caoimhe and Keith make it look so effortless and easy, but we all know the huge amount of work that goes into organising a wedding, so I'm sure it was all hands on deck in the run up, but the results make for a beautifully serene day, where the sun shone, the birds sang, the bride was utterly beautiful (and so calm), the groom was the happiest man alive, and their family and friends enjoyed one wonderful day celebrating them. It's such a beautiful yet relaxed wedding day at The Millhouse in Slane, that we share with you today courtesy of Will O'Reilly, get ready to smile and be inspired...
First things first, we need to know the background. So Caoimhe and Keith met thanks to some mutual friends ten years ago at a birthday party. They got chatting and instantly realised they had lots (and lots) in common. They spent the night engrossed in each other, swapped numbers and the rest as they say is history. Suffice to say, ten years later they are still just as loved up. In fact, Caoimhe and Keith's wedding day chosen as a special date, it was ten years to the day from when they first met.
Love, love, love this bouquet. Such a pretty mix of dainty waxflower, ranunculus, astilbe, sweet pea and anemones with their dark centre for some added drama. It's so light and fresh.
So back to how the lovely Caoimhe and Keith ended up tying the knot. Ever the romantic Keith had planned on proposing on a trip away to sunny Malta. Holding out for the perfect moment, Keith was a bit forlorne that he had seemingly missed his chance, but the path might have had a dip but he got there in the end, he explained "We were on holiday in Malta and after 5 beautiful days in Gozo (Island off Malta) we arrived in a town called Melleiha. We arrived in Melleiha in the afternoon and I have to admit it did not look that special and instantly thought I had missed out on a chance to propose to Caoimhe in the picturesque setting of Gozo." Luckily fate intervened and things worked out perfectly..."Later on in the afternoon we realised that there was a lot of hustle and bustle going on in the streets outside our hotel and realised that the town were setting up for an annual summer festival. The streets were decorated with fairy lights and the restaurants set up on the streets so we were given the most romantic setting that I could have ever imagined. We sat outside for dinner and that’s when I got down on one knee and proposed to Caoimhe." As you can imagine the answer was a resounding yes!
Such a classic beauty Caoimhe did her makeup herself, not the best idea for any of you who shake with nerves, but if you prefer to really look yourself and retain a little control in an ocean of madness on the wedding morning (like Kate Middleton did) then you could follow Caoimhe's lead. She certainly knows how to perfect her own look creating a really flawless and natural effect.
How cute are the mini bridesmaids? Displaying flower girl style just right - not too fussy, just pretty and sweet and you can tell the girls are in their element. If you're not sure what to dress the little ones in check out our recent flowergirl dress guide for some hints and tips.
Caoimhe and Keith knew they wanted their wedding day to be equally unforgettable, surrounded by family and friends, they wanted relaxation and enjoyment to be the order of the day. Luckily for them they found The Millhouse (a real favourite with One Fab Day real wedding couples), with its famous purple door and laid back atmosphere.
Is it just me or have veils made a comeback?
Deep breaths Keith...
Just look at those smiles! Both the ceremony and reception were held in The Millhouse, the ceremony space is in the converted Mill, which gives the house its name. With exposed brick and clean crisp white accents, it's a little bit of Brooklyn Loft in the middle of the Meath countryside.
Caoimhe and Keith decorated the ceremony space with some really simple flowers, by The Yard, just adding bows and long wildflower bunches to their bridal chairs to bring a little focus to the space.
They would just melt your heart...
Once it was official the party moved to the main area of The Millhouse for some champagne and chilled music by Manilla Strings to entertain the guests while the happy couple got some portraits.
Now lets talk about that dress! Caoimhe picked up her dress, veil and accessories in Dublin's Myrtle Ivory. The little cap sleeve detailing paired with her full length ballet veil is a real traditional bridal look and Caoimhe wears it beautifully.
The equally stylish bridesmaids are decked out in mint full length numbers by Ted Baker, they match just right with the flower palette and the pleating is very on trend for Summer 2014.
Such a teeny tiny feminine flower boutonnière, love it!
After capturing some special shots in the gardens it was time for the speeches. Now I know a lot of you dred this portion of the day but for the bride and groom it can be really special and emotional. For Caoimhe and Keith it was one of their favourite parts. "There was a really special moment at our drinks reception when everyone was gathered in the courtyard, the band came out and we had an impromptu dance. Everyone was so happy and it felt really special. Also the Speeches were very special with them being both heartfelt and Funny."
Check out the guest style, lots of pastels, full skirts and a few polka dots for good measure - I have a feeling the One Fab Day team would fit right in at this wedding!
Simple, relaxed elegance was the overwhelming theme for the evening meal, proving you really don't need a whole lot of fuss and details when your blank canvas is so naturally pretty. Plain linens, some pure white pom poms and subtle flowers set off the vibe just right.
Love the choice of lighting, the little cotton ball string lights are a nice take on fairy lights and they give a pretty soft, glow.
Now for my favourite part of the day - just look at these cakes! Caoimhe and Keith treated guests to a selection of buttercream goodness in a selection of pastel hues (almost) too good to eat. The fab cakes and cupcakes were all provided by Vantastic Vintage and neatly laid out on matching cake stands. Very impressive looking yet an easy style to replicate.
Want to have a day like Caoimhe and Keith? They have some advice..."Remember it’s your day and don’t forget that!!!!! It’s gone in a flash so enjoy every minute even the lead up to the day!" We couldn't but it better ourselves!
Big big thanks goes to the gorgeous couple for sharing their story and wedding day with us, and of course a huge thank you to Will O'Reilly for his fab photography!
